Autumnal

Summer; the season of the sun,
Spring; the season of new life
Winter; the season of struggle,
Autumn; the season of no strife

Step outside, take a glimpse of beauty,
The fresh breeze flowing slow,
City is fast asleep, not even a peep,
No blooming flowers, yet no sheets of snow,

Piles of leaves fall,
In the sunrise shades,
Flowing crisp morning air,
Mouse scampers away, afraid,

The scent of pumpkin spice,
A strong smack straight in the face,
The sweet smell of a crackling fire,
Not a single thing I’d replace,

Harvesting everything we have grown,
Telling all the scary stories,
Spooked around the campfire,
Experiencing Halloween,

Amber leaves sprinkling down,
As the radiant sun falls,
Kids running around the bonfire,
Just some gorgeous memories I recall,

Black silhouettes against a firey sunset,
Ending another day of fresh pies,
Kids in Halloween costumes clamour at the door,
The memories of the seasons lie.
