From urine the English made urinal;
the French, please note, were just as practical.
From the verb pisser, they made pissoir, a noun
now standard and in many men’s rooms found.
The overly refined and prudish, of course,
consider the French incorrigibly coarse.
The only proper verb they indicate
to use when one has to go is urinate,
not that four-letter English monosyllable
lopped off from its French original.
And, therefore, men, at nature’s call
enjoy the use of a pissoir or urinal.
Only a stickler will stop to quibble
which to use when pressed to piddle.
