Below is the poem of the day entitled The Hint of Autumn which was written by poet Connie Marcum Wong.

The Hint of Autumn

The hint of autumn leaves in breeze
As northern states begin to chill,
When August morning frost in trees
Drapes canopies o’er sylvan hill.

As summer waltzes her last dance,
The hint of autumn leaves in breeze
Adds to the season her romance,
When dappled colors start to tease

As nature offers her first freeze.
Soon verdant leaves morph into gold.
The hint of autumn leaves in breeze
Foretells of changes to behold.

Bright autumn hues beyond compare,
As gold, ruby, and rust now please
When summer’s end began to share
The hint of autumn leaves in breeze.

Congratulations on having written a great potd, Connie. I love everything about your poem and the season. I also appreciate your using the word, 'hue,' since we've been instructed NOT to by someone who thinks his word is law.

Top of the class Connie, a beautiful poem that just rolls off the tongue from stanza to stanza, and even contains the word hue, which was advocated in a recent blog we should stop using in the soup, I’m glad you took no notice of such childish behaviour, congratulations on a brilliant and deserving POTD, cheers David

Such a lovely hint of autumn's glory to come Connie in color, breezes and mental pictures of frosty landscapes. Last night I felt that subtle change in the evening air and knew summer was fading into autumn! Best wishes for the contest dear friend. Blessings and prayers!

Autumn is my favorite season to Tom. I have written many poems about autumn over the years. Some complain about having to rake the leaves but I see splendor in their colors. Blessings xxoo

You are welcome my friend. I miss seeing autumn and the need to dress warmer. I need to be satisfied by watching it in movies, and in photographs now. I still have a bright red leaf from a huge Yew on my wall I brought home from Ireland in 2007. Thank you for such a special comment. Blessings xxoo

The colors are what make autumn beautiful but I love it for many reasons. There was not enough space to add them in my poem so I concentrated on the trees and breeze and colors. Your entry is special Valsa and is sure to do well. Thank you for your kind comment on my entry. Blessings xxoo
