Sipping Coffee
“God within me is the enjoyer of the aroma
As also this dopamine boosting flavour I taste
I surrender all pleasures to the dweller of my heart
Breath by breath thus that my soul presence be chaste”
Since the Christian body is a Holy Temple,
Which houses the Holy Spirit of my Lord and Savior,
Am I desecrating His Spirit when I drink coffee?
What about drinking tea, or Coke or Pepsi?
Never giving thought about the effects
Of drinking coffee, tea, soft drinks
Upon The Holy Spirit which lives within
Maybe today is the perfect day for those thoughts to begin
My mother gave me a small amount of coffee
In my cup in the morning
Maybe a teaspoon or two
Filled the cup with milk
I never knew it might not be good for me
A child learns from their carers
What to eat and what to do
She gave me a juice glass of tea at lunch
Now is the time to think it through
Cutting down my decaf coffee
This morning to half
I'll see if I can make it today
One day at time
If I can make it today
I can make it tomorrow
Then who knows what I can do
1 Corinthians 6:12 ESV
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
Isaiah 40:30-31 ESV
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Romans 14:1-23 ESV
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. ...
Romans 12: 1-2; I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
1 Timothy 5:23
King James Version
23. Drink no longer water but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
