The Innocent Eye Test by Mark Tansey

hyperrealism takes bizarre to insane
when we are right here but not in the frame
I hold all the thoughts as well as none
existentially observed by men with lab coats on

the moment of glory when all come to see
thoughts, reactions, inner landscape of me
but when the days over and notes neatly typed
how can I exist in a state of no hype

centre of attention, on my thoughts all enquired
blazè in response, then diva like tired
who knew that a moment was a singular thing
after it passed, how I'd try to cling

what did I see on that fateful day
now I stare at myself in an infinite way
looking quite deep I wasted their time
thoughts a dime a dozen or a dozen a dime

the view of self times by observer I just cannot square
perhaps in the right light there was optical glare
the feedback was stunning, as is always the case
so I wish myself back, to be stood pride of place

all I want, ever wanted, was to walk forwards
(and in so break all previously held records)
to be more special than just plucked from the herd
forgiven for having musings absurd

though to outstay a welcome then ponder there on in
when I'm a herd animal, not brethren, not kin
a space allotted and a space filled
until no longer useful and politely killed
