Tribe of Wood

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the forest I am with my tribe of wood and leaf, among the giants whose roots hug the earth. It is a place of ancient souls, of the creatures who dwell with the sweet sounds of moving water and bird song.
statuesque, you guard the entrance to the wood with your cloak of red green that shimmers in the sunlight, glowing with the luster of emeralds. from your rich powerful branches the glistening leaves sprawl out in a secret semaphore to the wood beyond your roots are planted firm and deep. within the brown earth, around them a swirling profusion of buttercups and hyacinths, and the less admired daisies and dandelions, all dance at your feet in a serenade of tribute. here where the bracken is thick and curled, shaping the path by denying easy access, and the stream that waters the wood keeps life flowing on where minnows find their home within. you, sentinel of the forest, protect the life within it; all who seek to enter must first pass your guardianship.
