My Heart Beseeches An Answer In Collaboration With Robert J Lindley

(Part One- She Asks)

I awakened slowly stretching my body, then into a yawn,
My sleep filled mind remembers you left before the dawn!

Reaching beside me feeling only coolness of my sheet,
Alone now the rain outside hits the ground in rhythmic beat.
The fresh cool breeze whispers through my open window,
Catching billowing curtains into a back and forth show.

Caressing like cold dead fingers upon my naked skin,
Traveling back in time which I know I had let you in.
Our words danced in tango style, each one held a line
Glasses raised to our lips, we sipped succulent red wine.

I awakened slowly stretching my body, then into a yawn,
My sleep filled mind remembers, you left before the dawn!

Soon after we laid together, right here on my bed,
Oh why didn't I stop us then, to turn you away instead?
Now I lay here thinking, as an ache overwhelms my chest,
Gave you what I swore no more, gave you my very best.

Wishing for an answer,on this cold, wet, cloudy day.
How much more my bleeding heart will have to pay?
For allowing this intrusion into my life again I did dare,
Yet I have no answer, of how much or even if you care.

I awakened slowly stretching my body, then into a yawn,
My sleep filled mind remembers you left before the dawn!

(Part Two- He Answers)

How could I, truly be deserving of such an angel as you
When fear of that impossibility hit so hard, away I flew!

My darling, fear not, my racing away has a most just cause
I woke that morn, your angelic beauty gave me pause.
For my life had for decades fallen into the deepest dark
Then my finding you and our first night together left its mark.

As I looked in the mirror and saw me lying next to you
My heart almost burst, knowing it was too good to be true.
There you were, naked and your alluring beauty sublime
I thought of my past, how if it hurt you, would be a crime!

How could I, truly be deserving of such an angel as you
When fear of that impossibility hit so hard, away I flew!

That morn, I gave my sleeping beauty a sweet kiss
Trying to grab more of what I would soon so dearly miss.
For I could not bear to bring into your sweet life my pains
Or darkness of the dreams emerging from my past stains!

For you see, long ago, for another beauty I once shot a man
I was so crazy in love and thought that was a great plan.
Then our night, soft kisses restored, your gentle touch fired me up
I found my saving paradise, complete with its full golden cup!

How could I, truly be deserving of such an angel as you
When fear of that impossibility hit so hard, away I flew!

One World

Love is not a color,
No hue, neither a race.
All of our blood is the same,
That runs deep within our veins.

If we could lift up each other,
And know that we all care.
If we help our sisters and brothers,
There's a bond that we'll share.

The Pathway I Will Lay For You

The pathway I will lay for you with seeds that I will scatter round will soon have blooms come into view so you can tread on fragrant ground and feel your spirit fill with song when we can meet among the blue of blooms that will have sprung along the pathway I will lay for you! for the 8 Lines 7 Words Enjambment Poetry Contest of Rick Parise

Truth be told

Truth be told I miss you,
I miss the nights we'd talk,
And the laughs we'd share,
The immense power we would shift,
from one cosmic half of the earth,
To the other,
Transforming,
transfixed on each other,
and finding another plane of existence.
Truth be told I miss you,
I miss the love we shared,
freely and openly,
no questions asked,
no thought as to right or wrong,
Age was never a factor,
Distance could be quelled,
With just a thought,
and I would feel your arms,
wrap with strength around me,
And fall into their serenity.
Truth be told I miss you,
I miss thinking of you late at night,
wondering if I'm also on your mind,
I miss the beautiful friendship we have,
unrestrained, unexpecting, simple.
Truth be told,
I miss you.

I think back

When I think back...
I see your eyes on me across the room,
The way your lips slowly curve into a happy smile,
Your strong arms holding a child,
 And I think back...
Do you remember being the "Big Man" on campus back then?
Or the easy ways of the women you've held?
The loving hearts that you've shuttered and broke?
 And I think back...
Do you remember those secret games we once played?
Or the silent pleas to the Lord that you've made?
The loving family you've had and destroyed?
 And I think back...
And I think back to the way things are and smile,
And I think back to the way you were and I know,
And I think back to the man you've become and I love you,
 And I thank back...then I thank God.

The Wall

I never saw your writing against the silent wall I never heard those footsteps walking to the door Like a sunset shadow you faded in my dusk Left upon my doorknob just a venetian mask A mask with many faces and unforgotten past A thousand million secrets and questions never asked No please, don't go reminding me of a time before Of those wistful moments that now I don't recall The stonehenged shrine of my heart is over six feet tall Cracks do let the light in but the wall resists to fall No please, don't go reminding me of a time before Of those wistful moments that now I don't recall Was there ever a vision with the beauty of your eyes Was there ever a fire with the passion of our nights Was there ever a sweet warmth where velvets bled a rose Was there ever a seashore where my fingers brushed your toes Was there ever a tree trunk where stars have carved our dream Was there ever a stream walk where our starved lips weren't sealed No please, don't go reminding me of a time before Of those wistful moments that now I don't recall The stonehenged shrine of my heart is over six feet tall I never saw your writing against the silent wall

Paranoid love

Tell me that this fear is just paranoia in my mind,
we're not straining, we're not struggling,
we're not sinking, we're just fine.
I'm not perfect my dearest, but damn have I tried,
and I'll try harder but I know I'll have the same results every time.
Do you want me all the ways that I am?
With all the struggles and the tears and the clinging to your hand.
I fear your getting further and Im left on the shore to stand,
watching you in the distance with a bullet in my hand.
Tell me all this worry, its just clutter in my mind,
tell me not to worry that we're doing just fine.
Cause Im scared to run you off and I feel Im falling deep.
And Im so frightened of these thoughts that its getting hard to sleep.
All I know is that the heart wants what it desires,
because of you the match inside has turned into a fire.
And I feel the broken glass thats sticking from my skin,
Wondering if you'll remove the pain or push it back in.
My hearts frantic wondering if you feel the same,
pleading and begging for more than just a saying,
but to feel and to see that im not alone,
with being in this love thats overwhelming.
Once I told you that we didnt have a spark,
but you were lighting up and I was sitting in the dark.
And this fire, this blaze its wrapped in desire.
Im terrified to lose you, I think I might die or,
maybe disappear from all the pieces falling out,
im going crazy but when i open my mouth, nothing comes out,
and I cant explain to you why I just need to hold you close,
why every time you leave Im scared to let you go,
why these tears are building up behind my eyes,
all I know is that the heart wants what it desires
and it desires to be your wife.
So tell me in my panic, that your words are true,
tell my my dearest what I mean to you,
tell me that this paranoia is all within my mind
we're not struggling, we're not sinking tell me we're just fine

GUESS IT'S OVER

Never thought it would be easy
After all these years
You’d leave me all alone
To face my lonely fears

Promised me the earth
When I became your bride
Said we were forever
Always side by side

I’m sitting here without you
You were my guiding light
Now you’ve turned your back on me
So I’ve given up without a fight

In time I’ll move on
Now you’ve let me go
One day I may find love again
When my broken heart gets strong

Would I take you back
If you came begging on bended knee
Guess I’m not so sure
I’m getting used to being free

Dream Boy

My favorite verse from THE soft rock song of my youth
Hit song of 1969 by the Carpenters:

(They Long To Be) Close To You
    (middle stanza of the song)

"On the day that you were born

the angels got together and decided

to create a dream come true

so they sprinkled moon dust in your hair

of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue."

Dream Boy

To fall for him I needed just one look
and after that, he had me on his hook -
a fact which I’m not sure he even knew!
Dream boy with hair of gold and eyes of blue.

I lived for those church dances in his town.
I’d see him there but always feel let down.
Girls followed him around. What could I do?
Dream boy with hair of gold and eyes of blue.

Not being in his orbit or his school,
I longed for him and simply played the fool.
The fantasy for me would not come true!
Dream boy with hair of gold and eyes of blue.

Dedicated to Chris Frogley, wherever now he may be.

ANTHONY

An angel gave wings to you so you can fly
Never will life pass you by
Toward the sky you will guide
Hovering above the world so high
On a cloud you sit as other's sigh
Never will you fall from the sky
Your angels taught you how to fly

She Dreams of Him

Your mind has designed the perfect lover
That sensitive man of your special dreams
You wait for him to rip off the covers

Late night dinning with kisses and moon beams
You are awake and still dreaming of him
That sensitive man of your special dreams

Alone in the night the lights grow dim
Thinking about love and what it all means
You are awake and still dreaming of him

Real life may not always be filled with steam
You try to be thankful but it seems hard
Thinking about love and what it all means

With imagination you play the card
Even though you're aware it isn't real
You try to be thankful but it seems hard

In the end you can't help how you feel
Even though you're aware it isn't real
Your mind has designed the perfect lover
You wait for him to rip off the covers

POETRY SOUP HEROES FOR CONTEST

To single out special people on soup is such a hard task So many people have helped me, so it’s a really big ask I discovered on soup there is an angel without wings Her name is FJ Thomas and her praises I’ll gladly sing A month after I joined soup an e-mail appeared It said I was a ‘Premium Member’ it was so weird I contacted soup said a mistake has been made I’m a Premium Member … but I haven’t paid They said the donor of my gift didn’t wish to be named But I had no way to thank them, I felt so ashamed I wrote a thank you poem so that they would know Someone made it a favourite – but their name didn’t show I later learned it was FJ Thomas, but by then she’d left the site I wanted to make her proud of me, so I tried very hard to write I’d not written a poem for many years, not since I was at school Began writing when my hubby got cancer – a disease so cruel Flo’s gift to a complete stranger meant the whole world to me Writing became my lifeline I hope I’ve used her gift wisely ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since joining soup I began to collaborate You really should try it - it really is great Teamed up with a guy called Darren Watson His sense of humour was awesome oh boy we had some fun I was a complete beginner and Darren encouraged me Telling me how well I wrote and he loved my creativity We began to collaborate as Jadazzle United Our friendship blossomed, we were simply delighted E mails would fly and my self confidence soared With Darren around there was no time to be bored My world was shattered when dad was diagnosed with cancer Darren was there to comfort me, often with a witty answer Sadly Darren became ill and our writing came to an end I spent many many weeks trying to trace my lovely friend Contact was established with his family and after over a year I got an e mail from Darren, I was overjoyed to hear Darren’s positivity for the future gave my heart a lift Our friendship is so precious just like a priceless gift We’ve both had ups and downs in our lives recently We're writing together again and we’re as happy as can be Contest:- Poetry Soup Heroes Sponsor Catie Lindsey My Poetry Soup heros F J Thomas Darren Watson

Your Love

Your Love

Your love...
Makes me love you more
Your love is what I truly adore

Your love...
Cast a spell upon me
Love me now,
Set me free!

Your love...
I hold close to my heart,
Please don't ever let me depart
I knew it was true love
Right from the start

Your love...
Set me on fire,
Because baby it's you,
My one true desire

Sifting Sand From My Soul

If I but one day of my life left there'd be words I'd not delay. Too long I've struggled, bereft, my tongue mired in pit of clay I'm sifting sand from my soul, Baring my heart's affection, finding bravura to be bold yet fearing gentlest rejection. Time squandered is ne're returned so I must reveal what I am feeling, hoping sweet ardor is not spurned for love I've long been concealing. Stars hover aloft in evening skies but never could they outshine the gleam I descry in your eyes when my own and yours align. Moon rising to Heaven's height, beauty emerging from eclipse. Not as alluring on darkest night as a kiss from your senuous lips. Sunlight yawns on the edge of dawn but the warmth of his morning rays cannot be compared to love born by your touch that sets me ablaze. I dare not lift tremulous eyes to see the response your face has defined. If you do not feel the same for me it would be better if I remain blind.

Rain

The fact of losing you wasn't that much devastating. You evaporated too fast like water. And so it didn't give me affright. I know you're like water, you'll precipitate one day.

And so, that one day came by destiny. I was in my room when it rained pieces of you. I went outside and felt the touch I've missed for somehow a long time. I enjoyed your every drop, the petrichor and the moist.

I badly wanted you back. I longed for the water which drowns me in love. The water that gives me life every time I'm dehydrated. The water that forgives whoever I am. Only if I could collect all of your pieces and bring you back to my life forever, without you being gone once more. But I know, it will never happen.

For now, I enjoy your unexpected visits and perchance sojourns. I relish your every coming. In that way, I still manage to have you, even though I know you have to evaporate again.

Mocha Parfait

When I wake up, you'll be there
Warm mocha eyes, café au lait
On cold days. On warm: parfait
On rippling breeze of wind, air claire
In gliding streams of sundust words
I see inside the one you are
The one so near, so very far
Smithereens of you, carried by birds
      Perfection, it does not exist
You are, I am, nous sommes
      Each other's imperfection balm:
      Completing what the other's misses
Each time I sleep, you're with me
I revel in your familiar wheeze
I add mine too, one wheezing breeze
Lovely and (im)parfait, across the sea

Surviving the Narcissist's Merry-Go-Round

You seduced, you stole, you exalted, you annihilated,
You elevated, you decimated, you connected, you sucked me dry,
You opened me up, you closed me down,
You delivered me to ecstasy, you devalued and discarded me,
You were sensual, you were sardonic,
You made my heart smile, you tore out my soul,
You put me on a marble pedestal, you stoned me with your vicious tongue,
You bathed my heart in liquid gold, you buried me in quick sand,
You crowned me as your princess, you burnt me at the stake,
You were my prophecy, you were my satan,
Your hands knew every inch of me,
You tore out my essence and trampled my boundaries,
You pledged unity only with me, you cheated,
You held me tightly in your arms, you suffocated the life out of me,
You cast, you hooked, you netted, you feasted,
You made every nerve ending shiver deliciously,
You became my nervous breakdown, you were my divine intervention,
You disconnected me from my higher power,
You were luminous, you illuminated, you are an illusion.
You loved and yet you didn't.
Because love is real. And you are not.

Transcendence

A tent of brightly coloured wool
Along an effervescent pool
Filled with deliciously cool streams
This would last a week and I would surely weep
For in my sorrows, I made haste

Beneath a bleak sky adorned with clouds of thought
Menacing a downpour of grief
I left the bosom of my camp
And could not recall my steps
The fierce winds of the desert deleted my trail
As the winds of time would delete my memory from all that ever beheld me

The clouds of thought once again embraced my mind and etched on the bleak skies a certain name
A name sweeter than sweetness itself
With a velvety texture surpassing that of silk
A name that transcended the barren plains dancing around on the tongues of angels
And stretched to the bitter and sweet seas

It is a name unlike which any man has ever beheld
For though many share it
None could wear it with her grace, borne of the musk of paradise itself
A name that evokes images of beautiful pearls
One that sends shivers down my spine
When I envision her delicate visage
A name that spreads warmth from the core of my soul
Which slowly percolates through my being to the tip of my nose

This name can only be the perfectly sculpted form of -????? whose true beauty transcends that of meaningless words
A mellifluous name when uttered in any tone
It shimmers and shines and radiates brilliantly
Even upon the twisted tongue of the vilest crone

I remember the day when the winds of authority blew on our firm grasp
And whisked her away on the cursed back of an evil black horse
And it is with this heaviness that I thus sink
Into a pitiless lake of anguish

The Hypocritical Christian

I am the hypocritical Christian.
I say I follow Christ,
But I'm still consumed by my demons.
I go to church on Sunday,
But I refuse to invite someone back.
I want to serve on mission,
But I'm too afraid to act.
They think I read The Bible,
But I just fall asleep in it.
They think I'm positivity and smiles,
But underneath I'm death and addictions.
They think I'm clean and pure,
But I'm broken and mistaken.
I say I'm not worthy of His love,
But Jesus will never let me be forsaken.
I pray long prayers,
But inside they're empty repetition.
It might look as if my faith is strong,
But my core is too easily shaken.
I say the things I'm supposed to say,
But don't follow His actions or obey.
I speak the truth the church wants to hear,
But deep inside on matters I don't know what to believe.
I walk in shame as if I'm not good enough
To be loved by God and saved through Christ,
But there is nothing I could ever do to earn His peace;
It's a free gift.
I accept;
Now forgiven, changed, and released.
Thank You God,
Thank You Jesus,
Thank You Holy Spirit!
In Jesus' Holy Name,
We pray,
Amen!

Leonardo DiCaprio

Dedicated to my love: Leonardo DiCaprio

For how many years have I loved you
I think it has to be about eighteen
We were both so young in those days
But I still longed to be your queen
With each film I fell more in love
With each role you reminded
"This is what true talent is made of"
Beautiful Leonardo
How keenly I feel
How much I love you
Probably too much, but still
You have shown true beauty
You have shown true grace
You're a perfect specimen
Of the human race
You are of the greatest actors
Of this generation and more
For there will never be another
That I so much adore

The Art of Attraction

I heard it said once
That attractive to an artist
Does not mean "pretty"
In the average sense
But more something that
Is interesting to look at
And makes you want to
Keep looking

To him, I can look for hours
And want to keep looking

He is the color burnt umber
Like coffee and cream
And purest black ink
Not blue-black, or brown,
But the undiluted purity
Of a spilled ink-pot
Shaped by the delicate curve
Of a calligraphy brush
Into perfectly, haphazardly
Beautiful curls, erratic and
Bold

And his eyes
Those eyes
Like coffee, taken
Without cream or sugar
But turned amber by sunlight
And sweetened by laughter
Making what might have been
Intimidating, with their darkly
Charcoaled outline that
Marks them as Arab
Instead as sweetly inviting
As the warm half-light of dusk
And so addictive

I've been looking for hours
And I want to keep looking

Unforgettable Moment

Those were my green and salad days
My friends, my toys were all my wealth.
Marbles and pebbles, my gems and pearls.
No fear of loss or bother about gains.
Trump cards valued no less than money.
School , home and uncle’s was my world.
What comes from where and goes where
None of them, I cared about, alike prince.
To run the empire of my utopia, my dad
Fought so many battles against all odds.
Unaware of all, with joy pass my days.
Till one day to pay my fees, I remember
If anything seeped into my mind ever
Like an engraved word on copper plate.
He has to sell his wedding watch
On the pulse, for the first moment in life.
My eyes were wet for someone else
Other than me, painted with the colours
Of emotion, as most memorable picture.

If Walls Could Speak

Saturday Night... You’re here, in the flesh; tall, handsome, and where nothing stands between us but our breaths... softly, yet eagerly exchanging warm, casual greetings Tonight, in the absence of distance, time is defunct; obsolete... And if these walls could speak, they would tell of the blazing sparks that fly when our eyes meet and how quickly I have to look away or I would melt like fresh, creamy butter in sunlight at noon! ~*~ 9/7/13 For "Mr. Incredible"

A Choice

Peace again rules My Day
Comforting.... in a pleasant light hearted way
Nature draws me near
Banishing all my fear
Thank You Lord
For giving me Light
Holding me Dear through the Night
It is a Choice that we make
A Dream this Love must not forsake
Take my hand and come with me
There is nothing if you follow the dark
Eventually you become the mark
It is never to late to swallow your pride
Humble is a lasting stride.....
