Best Sunflower Poems
I’m singing honey-
rinsed sunflower serenades
twirling with corn rays…
and I’ll waltz through every fall…
to embrace his saffron warmth
Conquering new territories climbing up the stairway
new beginnings hanging on the edge of a dream
an empire arises from dark ashes flash petals catch one gem
Through honeycombed dewdrops softly spinning clear
golden the sparkle upon your tabernacle silken touch
vision of deep beauty shines immaculate heart
Beholding rose gold sparkles
sugar coating light dazzling before the eyes
crystal sparks ignite rainbow gleams
Through a mist of tears travelling one picture
everything shrinks in your shadow perfect
sunbeams warmly come alive
Touching clouds dancing with teardrops
falling over an angel salted from the ocean
seagulls lament faraway distant overseas calls
(Unrhymed Tercet)
sunflowers shimmer
swaying over rain drenched fields
umbrellas of gold

blooming and bobbing
flower power head turner~
feasting goldfinches
I passed a dancing sunflower on my walk today,
out sprang a goldfinch.

solo sunflower
pregnant with seeds, standing tall -
neighborly hello
Sunlower and the Sun
She’s very loyal to his rays,
As he travels from east to west,
Her golden beam always faces
Where his brightest radiance exist.
Her beauty reflects het glory,
Her smile will never go astray,
As she follows him constantly,
From the mountain up to the bay.
Even he refuses to shine,
As the dark gray covers up high,
At a garden, her, we can find,
Patiently waiting for her “Hi!”
As she has faith of his coming
After a strong shower fountain,
When heaven will stop its crying,
The sky will be at peace again.
So the huge shining ball of gold
Will return to reign ever more,
At the blue, his grin will be bold,
He’ll reveal anew his splendor.
Then her petals will come to glow,
As she will hear her sweet “Hello!”
It won’t matter where wind may blow,
It’s only him, she will follow.
Looking forward to the morn,
When peace signals her breathless ascent,
Across the gentle horizon, sunlight
Reflecting the glistening silence, soothing
Like the grief sometimes poured out,
Over the sighing kindness of dawn,
Fresh hopes, new dreams, prayers
Penetrating the needless words –
That destroy the melancholy, murmur…
Joy into the sunflower’s heart.
Looking forward to the noon,
When the burden of a teardrop
Erases the dawn’s laughter,
Embracing the calm, clear seas with
Kisses, rich and reflective, stirring,
Heartbeats, delicately echoing,
Strange feelings – like a longing,
Embarrassed by the knowledge that truth,
Yes, even truth - sometimes lies to you.
Looking forward to the twilight,
Evening skies in burgundy and cobalt,
Burning with wonder, promises
Like common thoughts, reassuring
Captivating the spirit with a sense of grace,
Deep and intimate, reflective as the night
Who colors the entire world in moonlight,
Stars singing joy through the heavens,
Erasing the all consuming urge to let go
Let go of the moments, so determined to slumber,
On the sunset’s bosom, promising…
Ever promising…
To look forward to the rising of a sun,
Who turns the world back to sunflower perfect.
The rose was fragile in its beauty,
Its hue the colour of romance novels and warm tea,
But these flowers aren’t flickers of flames in winter,
They were cold,
They were your soulless eyes staring up at me from a casket.
You became the still image of everything you should never have been,
Your hair was too neat,
Your honey blond fragments a solid streak,
It was always untidy,
No wonder you were loved so widely.
You were never a rose,
Never dainty nor small,
Pesticides and gloves were never needed,
You always grew tall.
I could touch you without bleeding,
Your thorns never pierced my skin,
You helped me grow,
But now you’re gone,
No sunlight or rainwater tears will ever bring you back.
When I sit in my garden and I watch the sunflowers turn towards that sun,
It hurts a little less to have lost a loved one,
But now I understand.
Not why you had to die but why you lived,
Your life was a garden of memories and breath,
Of the mellow sun striking the petals of yellow sunflowers,
That was you Cath,
You tilted towards everything bright,
Sunflowers litter my garden now,
A sea of sunshine smiling faces,
You are never dead,
For the blazing memory of you keeps every nook and cranny of my garden alive.
Oh, lovely burst of fire- your tongues aflame
with splashing brilliance from your fiery glow,
you dance with a full sense of motion that
entraps the mind in a hypnotic trance.
Or is the Sun that comes into my mind
with that gold halo of your fiery ring?
Your center, molten hot with solar flares
that rise- erupt and fly within my sight.
On closer look, so clearly see you now-
a beauty of our fields- a gem of Earth;
a gift of God’s creation that inspires-
artistic view of you- as fire and Sun.
She lures every body’s attention with her sunny charm
and her radiant skin that dazzles bright like golden rays.
Emblazoned with vibrant colors of fiery summer sun,
her gorgeous silhouette surges her grace and elegance.
Vivacious nature of her lights up every gathering
as she fully mirrors the pizzazz of a sunny day.
Everyone wants to playfully bask in her glowing warmth
while she gently sways with her inevitable presence.
She is abundantly gracious in spreading love and joy
as if she's in charge to animate life itself with fun.
A bright symbol of awakening for sharing the light
that she seeks out to be enriched with spiritual brilliance.
Flower of sun she is for dispelling the shades of grey
with her vibrancy fades away all clouds of depression.

A necklace of yellow around her base,
surrounds her dark green face.
She shiver's a little as the wind caresses her intently,
She smiles sweetly, loving that he treats her so gently.
Be quiet, whispers the breeze,
So she stand at a freeze, making sure she is ready,
He will be setting soon, and they cant wait
to see his colourful show across the sky, in the late afternoon.
His orange face, sets the pace,
How gorgeous the garden looks,
and as he goes down, she graciously takes a bow.
All night long, no one moves, being watched closely by the moon
until the sun comes out to play,
She stretches her face up to the sun,
and introduces the day with her sunflower serenade.

Happily, she sways,
Seeking gods praise,
Warmth from his blaze,
Inferno of heat,
Golden rays shine,
Her energy and strength,
Reaches high,
Winning her prize,
Yellow sunflower,
Huge petals, bathe
Celebrating her love,
Searching for light
Lifting spirits,
Cheerful and bright
What a beautiful sight
Standing so tall,
Rejoicing choir joins in,
Worship begins.

Last year,we bought a sunflower,
a cheery little fellow
it had such a deep brown heart,
and petals, sunny yellow,
It makes me smile to think of it,
because we didn't know,
that if you feed and water them,
well, they begin to grow!
now, I don't mean a little bit,
please, let me tell you why,
the last time that we measured,
it was twenty two feet high!!
alas, it could not take the strain,
and, with a sudden frost,
on a cold September morning,
It's fighting spirit lost,
Both I and my granddaughter
wept all that September,
for poor old "sunny sunflower"
a valued family member!
