When I Stop and Pray

When the storm clouds boil around me,
And the lightning splits the sky--.
When the howling wind assails me,
And life's sea is rolling high--
When my heart is filled with terror,
And my fears, I can't allay--
Then I find sweet peace and comfort,
When I simply stop and pray.

When the things of life confound me,
And my faith is ebbing low--
When my trusted friends betray me,
And my heart is aching so--
When the night seems black and endless,
And I long for light of day--
Then I find a silver dawning,
When I simply stop and pray.

There are things beyond the heavens
I can't begin to understand,
But I know that God is living,
And I know He holds my hand.
Yes, I know He watches o'er me
All the night and all the day--
And He's always there to hear me
When I simply stop and pray.

“Peace I leave with you
           my peace I give you
I do not give to you as the world gives
Do not let your hearts be troubled
do not be afraid” (John 14:27)

But I am scared
      Blood runs down streets
      Hatred, rage, violence dance
            In a chaotic frenzy performance
                     of evil malice . . .

What do your words mean?
Are they void – empty promises?
Where is the peace in deafening explosions?
In the cacophony of rapid gun fire?
     Screams of horror?
           Tears of death???

“I am the resurrection and the life
The one who believes in me will live
                 even though they die
and whoever lives by believing in me will never die
Do you believe this?” John 25:26

Yes, I want too . . .
But fear creeps around my heart
Its cancerous fibers sinking deep – choking me
Doubts greet me in the morning
     Panic sleeps in my bed
     I am weak
     Hear my cries of desperation

“Be strong and courageous
       Do not be afraid
       do not be discouraged
for the Lord your God will be with you
                wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9)

Stay close – fill me
     I cannot see –
     Darkness surrounds me
     Death, destruction, desecration, depression
     Blood, bitterness, bile, blight

“I have come into the world as a light
so that no one who believes in me
             should stay in darkness
If anyone hears my words but does not keep them
I do not judge that person
For I did not come to judge the world
but to save the world” (John 12:46-47)

I cannot begin to fathom this
         How great is this love
               Forgiveness over revenge
	           Peace over violence
	                Life over death
	                        Love over hate
                  Help me I pray

“A new command I give you
              Love one another
             As I have loved you
so you must love one another” (John 13:34)

Love one another . . .

The mellifluous musical tones of the village bells

Echoing chimes over the cold snowcapped mountains

Both finding their way to people in the valley below

Christmas songs — let your spirit sing freely and loudly

Welcoming the Birth of Our Savior and Baby King

Who so charms the Angels on High and God Himself

On this night, The Star was so beautiful, clear, and shiny

Crisp and so crystal-bright, centered above and beyond

Reflecting now the Lord God’s most divine and holy light

There is real magic in the night air as Heaven rejoices aloud

The child and the infant’s divine soul breathe life now intently

Fulfilling truly God’s very promise and His hope to Mankind

Keep this Christmas spirit — share it with others near and far

Grace filled with good tidings as we dance on wings of joy

We all now celebrate in great happiness, love, and kindness

Christmas is forever — and you must never ever close this door

Faith always enters, carrying His guiding torch high and proud

And encouraging Man every step of the way on his long journey

Even in a simple cradle where the Baby Jesus so innocently lay

Heaven doth bathe His cradle with the warmest rays of divine light

Bespeaking the heavenly beauty, joy, and wonder of Our Savior

Amazing peace makes a lovely gift, I wish for all of us to have

As new life blossoms, wrapped in petals of an immaculate heart

God’s holy blessing, love, and intention are clear for all to see

That Holy Night the Angels entire sang mirthfully on Christmas Eve

Praising Almighty Lord God in Heaven on the birth of His only son

The Angels’ paeans echoed in their divine beauty across the Universe

To bring peace now, glowing with your love, is His divine intention

Rejoicing in God’s Greatest Gift to Mankind who was born in a manger

Destined to become Our Most Holy and Divine Savior — Amen! Amen!

Take a deep breath
Let yourself relax
Close your eyes
Come with me

Inhale
Exhale

Let me guide you
I’ll take you on a magical journey

Give in to the moment
Relax
Breathe
Close your eyes

You’re there
You’re there
You’re outside the Taj Mahal
A full moon bathes it in a silver glow
It’s serene
Take all the time you want
Enjoy the scene
There’s no need to hurry

Inhale
Exhale

You’re tired
Winding down
It’s after hours
And no one is around

The stress of your day
Is the coat you take off
One sleeve at a time
Let it drop to your feet
Feel the freedom
Of the weight off your shoulders

Take a deep breath
You’re at the main entrance
You’re calm
Slowly slip off
Each shoe one at a time

Take a deep breath
Listen
It’s just you and the echo of stillness
It’s majestic with the high ceilings
And luscious marble all around you

Listen
Feel the resounding silence
It’s charming and inviting
It’s calling you from within
Go ahead
Follow where it leads

Enter as the richness
Of the silence envelops you
It’s a droning melody
That feels peaceful and safe
Soothing
Beckoning
You feel light
You feel transported
Your feet barely touch the floor

Inhale
Exhale
Stay as long as you like

You’re exactly
Where you need to be

Relax
Take it all in

When you’re ready to leave
Have one last listen
To the melody of silence

Step over your shoes and coat
You might as well
Leave them behind
You don’t need them

Treasure this peacefulness you feel
You’ve earned it
Let it lead the way
To a relaxing evening
Where sleep will sway you
Between the realms
Of fantasy and reality

Breathe
Relax
And enjoy your evening

You asked me the other day, my friend,
who I am and I replied:
I am you in another body!
Yes, it is true,
Look, how much the same we are,
No matter what, the color
The creed
The race
The status

Look,
I am born and I die
I suffer and I enjoy
I love and I hate, just
Like you!

I am a father, a brother, a son,
A mother, a sister, a daughter, just
Like you,

Happiness I seek,
Family to raise is my wish,
Peace to find I look for,
Just like you

I yearn
I abhor

I fear
I hope

I bleed
I heal,
Just like you,

I believe
I doubt

I accept
I refuse

I laugh
I cry,
just like you

We are alike
We are the same
We are brothers...

Children of a unique father.

Tell me,
My brother,
My friend,
My ally,
Why do we have to oppose,
To fight
To hurt
To destroy and
To eliminate
One another?

Are our seas really that narrow,
Our oceans that small,
Our lands so limited
To contain all of us?

Or

Is it the case that
Our hearts are not big enough
And our minds not so wide-open to
Enfold all mankind?

Listen to me, my other self:
It is up to us to change this world
We have inherited, with its virtues and vices,
History and culture
Flaws and merits
And
Try to make it
Better
Nobler
Kinder and more caring
By obliterating harmful beliefs,
Demolishing injurious divisions,
Destroying detrimental distrust,
Annihilating racism and eradicating
The erroneous feeling of poisonous superiority
For
To bring the dawn of a new loving world,
A world of acceptance
Of respect
Of justice
Of equality
Of love and
Of universal brotherhood

So as

With peace in our hearts, liberated we would be
From the past’s deleterious tribulations
That for myriads of years,
Have kept us, fighting one another!

Southern Beauty

https://soundcloud.com/kentucky-gal/2014-09-27-09-15-43717a

How sweet is the southern beauty of a country rose blossom today.
Soft scents that float gently on the breeze through trees that sway.

With bare feet I wander country roads through heavenly display.
Across the emerald meadows on hills where butterflies play.

Skirt held high above knees in crystal waters of the creek I wade.
Sun kissed cheeks, rosy red as I lay 'neath the big oak trees shade.

I gaze up into the great cathedral of blue high above me.
In awe as downy white clouds float lazily along for me to see.

Like tiny feathers from heaven cherry blossoms fall to the ground.
Whilst off in the distance I hear the lonesome train whistle sound.

Quietly I watch a family of deer so shy as the tree line they grace.
Whilst the lonesome sound of the whippoorwill puts a smile on my face.

So thankful am I that these brown eyes can see.
This heavenly picture God has painted for me.

Premium Member As Poets Prepare Their Pens

They hide behind mountains of ignorance,
judging within a valley of selfish love.
Among weeds where flowers refuse to grow,
to the mercy of hypocrites -

only we can set them free.

As we poets prepare our pens,
in the ceremony of a new dawn,
let us flow like a million petals,
spreading peace through our fingertips,

because our hearts beat the same.

When they fire bullets at those already wounded,
let us swim within sapphire seas of serenity,
healing through the purity of compassion -

we can beat them at their own game.

As twilight signals a new dawn,
an abundance of colourful sparkles,
infiltrate silent stars, disturbing their reverie,
but the moon gazes in admiration,
as illuminations brighten horizons.

In hope of a beautiful new sunrise,
tomorow can be the first day
to strum heavenly strings,
singing lullabies of peace.

Streets of Blood

Streets of blood

She stood upon the terrace high
streets of blood below
The gate left open in the night,
a dark sky threatens snow

With swine and pearls running free
her bed sheets fought the wind
A tear drop fell her worried eyes
at hate now once again

Of drawbridge wars in endless fight
to stones of castle keep
A single rose a’ bloom this dawn
as mothers come to weep

For sons of father’s destined fall,
these followed footsteps bare
Along the streets so narrow, long,
where death becomes aware

“Enough!” she shouted far and wide
“This fighting now shall end”
“Take your swords and hateful spite,
do not return again”

And lifting high her amulet
upon a staff of wood
She chanted as the stone did glow
this morning where she stood

“Of peace, let all be felt this hour
Thy breath of saddened greed
Be gone, be gone, oh beast of war
No longer doth thou feed

Ye shadows o’er a nightfall mist
Lest blood befall your hand
Beyond this tree lined sacred place
Be gone from this our land”

When then a mighty wave did flow,
the streets were cleansed of fear
And there beyond horizons call
the sunrise did appear

And where once sat a single rose,
one thousand buds did grow
Of crimson red and silken gold,
the sweetest fragrance flow

Mothers hugged their children close
as loudly trumpets blared
The bloodied streets now white with snow
and love by all was shared

But there within the canyons lurked
cast eyes of beaded red
“I shall return to take this place
O’ ye who think me dead”

“To once more fill yon streets with blood
of this ye can believe
No matter what the masses want,
know this, I shall not leave”

When imbalance of life churns hapless poignancy
And the zephyr of inequities breezes melancholy
Dissonance reverberates echoing pathos of grief
Seeking exaltation within metaphysical profundity
As hushed posture conjures up humbling catharsis,
Leaning in quietude, questing paranormal vitality,
Liberating from bounds of mundane, the ordinary,
Energizing calming bliss of unfamiliar, extrasensory.

Mortal soul steadily crosses limits of understanding
Reaching deep into unknown, unexplored territory,
Daring to search for knowledge in mystical obscurity
Pursuing enlightenment from supernatural intrigue,
Discovering newfound acuity blossoming internally
Adulating freedom of shedding narrow boundaries
Gaining divine wisdom, postulating own doctrines,
Comprehending missives in blissfulness of sagacity.

As laments mellow in teachings of superior intellect
And bawl of distraught soothes in heavenly solace
Finding ambrosial tranquility in endearing calmness,
Physiological longings amiably, peacefully dissipate
And gradually soul enlightens, unafraid of mortality,
Yearning for permanence of purposeful inviolability,
Meaningful beyond self, detaching from materiality,
Synchronizing harmoniously in idyllic, placid sanctity.

Premium Member A Time For Poetry

There is a time for poetry,
a time for petals as metaphors.
There is a time to sing,
a time for lovers to serenade.
There is a time for music,
a time for harmonic symphonies -

and there is a time for silence.

In the world today,
there is no need for hypocrisy,
nor lies from judgemental minds.
In confusing times,
crows grin, as clowns and jesters
fight for imaginary thrones.

It is not a time to kill your voice.

As wolves imitate shepherds,
now is the time for peace.
A time to reignite the muse,
a time to douse the fire,
a time to express, a time to speak,
a time to write, a time to sing,
a time to play, a time to rise!

It is a time to write,
a time to breathe,
before it is time to die.

Quietude endows hushed mystical space
Admonishing words have no role to play—
Look how in solitude its posture bends
Bowing in deference to calming intellect.

Listen to the utterance of wailing heart
Where grieved voices subtly resonate
In stygian echoes of aches and pain
As bawl of mortal life kneels down to pray.

Touch of gifted hands magically illuminates
Enlightenment of soul’s secret message
Setting aside obtuse incredulous images,
Silencing the whims of infuriating regrets.

Glowing in epiphany of truths ornate
Emanating from the heart’s regal reign,
Voice of divinity in conquest reverberates
Winning decisively dissonant arguments.

Gaining wisdom of supreme knowledge,
Free from shackles of ordinary, mundane;
Revelations disarm the earthly laments
Basking in discovery of heavenly solace.

While walking amongst an angry crowd,
trying to escape the turmoil surrounding me,
                         Hope appeared. I took her arm;
She guided me through the chaos.
In the sea of mayhem, we were separated, I lost sight of her.
Frantic and overwhelmed; dizzy with the shifting of the crowd,
a small opening appeared; I maneuvered my way towards it.
                 As I stumbled, the opening changed direction;
an exit pattern laid out before me.
Focusing on the exit, I realized I had not lost Hope,
she was clearing the way for me.
With the roar of the crowd behind me,
Hope and Peace stood before me.

An eagle spirit conquers storms of adversity,
like a silent soul floats amongst the sky's artistry.
Soaring higher, ascending further from perception,
free from judgemental realities of deception.

Through silver rippled clouds glimpses of sun’s projection,
people - hills and streams merely blurred hued perfection.
Cocooned in tranquillity - brightly scintillating,
Elevated flow of peace astral souls stimulating.

Drifting like peaceful streams, formless in spirituality,
floating nonchalantly lured by the moon's hospitality.
Stars illuminate creating the path's foundations,
soul ascends carefree from a life of tribulations

Swathe in crystalline warmth of a galactic revelation,
merging with the Universe in its empyrean constellation.
Released from worldly strife in its final aspirations,
soul reaches joyous heights in its heavenly inspirations
