Premium Member A Tear-Ful Conversation With My Daughter

It starts with only one -
one like me
a melancholy migrant
from the immortal part of her
to the locus of her physical being --
the center of her emotional wisdom

I gain heartfelt strength as I gather my forces
rising up en masse
riding cresting waves of woe
to breach the ramparts -
the welling rims
of her loving eyes

it starts with only one -
one perfectly ripened drop of sorrow
this beautifully packaged pain

and a lustrous cascade of soulful pearls ensues
wept gems pouring forth from a pure heart..

I am the tears your mother cries.

Poet's note; For my beautiful daughter, Jocelyn, you inspire me with your light, joy, spirited determination and intellect. Though your academic pursuits take you many, many miles away from me and I grieve your absence, when you return home I shall celebrate with tears of joy!
For today, however, I'll let my grieving tears speak for themselves...
I love you and I miss you, my Jocee <3

"My Daughter My Nation"

The climate of Georgia
is diverse,
considering the nation’s
small size.

She walks with her head
held high,
ultra dignified
My daughter,
whom I love “Most".

I am her Black Sea,
her West Coast.
Familiar, yet -
uncharted territory
a foreign country drowned,
a mysterious
unconquered frontier.

Always close,
my tides touch her shore,
then recede.
She dips her toes,
considers which boat
to launch off in,
which adventure to seize.

Waves of a Mother -
calm then stormy seas,
low tides, high tides,
cool deep waters,
then LOVE's blistering
burning breeze.

In water’s introspection
A natural evolution
from station to station,
perfect reflection, an observation -
“TAKE LIFE!”, Ocean calls
to her Nation,
without hesitation.

Courage of Child-no-longer.
Independent, clever
Woman now, she’s “BECOMING” -
Stronger and stronger.
Familiar, yet -

Uncharted territory
a foreign country
a mysterious,
unconquered frontier,
that's My Daughter,
My Nation.
Georgia.

No maps required,
straight to the HEART -
Simple, pure magic vibration,
this my celebration,
My Daughter
Queen of your own
Evolving, Stronghold Nation,
GEORGIA.

Premium Member Message From My Daughter

So… during basketball season… our manager, Anna,
would sit by me on the bench.

After Christmas,
I told her about Nana drawing with charcoals.
I told her about how I wanted to buy her charcoals
             so she would draw again.
I told Anna about how Nana won’t draw anymore
             because she used to draw…
                          when Papa was sick.

(I was telling Anna all of this because she likes to draw
and mentioned she likes charcoals the best)……..
 	           All that being said…

Anna gave me the most beautiful charcoal drawing
of a basketball on a wooden floor.
It is framed and really big.
You can tell that she put time into it
and really wanted it to be pretty.
When I opened it in class today,
            I was so surprised……
and told her it was beautiful.

She smiled at me and said,

“I drew that because of the story you told
             me about your grandma.”

I bawled like a little kid.

Just that the story would influence her, and
inspire her to draw that for me.

It is awesome.

I had forgotten that we even talked about drawing…….
             She didn’t.
That story meant something to her.

And that is why people teach.

My Daughter

I’ve never deeply experienced love and joy
Until; that stinkin’ cute baby girl with golden hair
Big round steel blue eyes and fairest skin
Took my breath away the instant I held her

The joy that fills me nothing can compare
That magical moment became my favorite
That parental instinct just became naturally fitting
My walls of protecting her sprang right up

To have her in my life is the greatest gift of all
She didn’t just complete me
She is the every essence of my purpose
My everything beautiful, rain and shine

My girl
My daughter

Better (By Kimmy Holmes My Daughter)

i
am so special
i
won't suck you dry
i
need to be someone
I
have such anger
i
am a stranger
to myself, myself

I promise to me
to let myself be free
I WILL do better

I WILL forget
the things said
be better, no regret

I will be better
than you
I already am
Damn...

One can have money, riches and diamond rings.
Searching in stores for resplendent things~
But a loyal and loving daughter cannot be bought.
She's God's gift to me, that I
 never sought.

When friends and family leave,
She knows how fully I grieve!
A knock on the door I do not expect,
There she stands with a special gift.

Her endless and enduring love I don't deserve.
Nor her constant friendship like a bubbling brook.
Her brown eyes and sparkling smile,
Enable me to walk all lonely miles.

She is in my heart, she is my child!

Not My Daughter, B

Well, You Kept me up until 4 again
but i’d do it every day
because when I brought you home
I swore to keep the boogie man away

I could do with the monster in your closet
or the goblin hiding under your bed
But I was ill prepared for
The Demon that resides in your head

I prayed to God it would skip you
Made promises I could not keep
Naively I blamed hormones
and silently I would weep

The D word stole my baby
I’m trying to take her back
But that nasty, ugly monster
Was quick in his attack

Depression, you stole people I love
And I know they’re forever gone
But not my child, not my light
You think you can keep her but you’re wrong

Tell her romantic lies
create cruel visions in her mind
But i’m a much worse monster
A mother’s love, you’ll soon find
Is nothing to be messed with
Victory is mine

Walking My Daughter Down the Aisle

Wedding Day, Lake Tahoe, 2001

Walking my daughter down the aisle,
Oh how very painful that was for me.
For in all her resplendent bridal glory,
Only a lovely child I could see!

The sweet little girl jumping rope,
Or the days she played Mommy.
She was and still is, my angel child.
I got number and number with step we took.

I felt truly that my world was ending.
Then that moment, oh that moment.
That final kiss as a Mommy~~
And yes, I gave my angel child away!

Those days of Cheerios, cartoons and candy,
No more bubble baths or combing her hair.
In a split second, vanished,
Like rainbow bubbles lifted heavenward,
Into the warmth of the Lake Tahoe air.

To My Daughter

To my darling daughter maybe one day you will see.
Just how very special and much you mean to me.

Looking back through the years oh how hard it was fighting
                    back the tears.

The hurt and pain I feel inside will be with me till the day I die.

I don't understand where I went so very wrong,if only I had it to do
                    again how happy I'd be.

I know just where to begin I would start by changing everything
                    about me.

Maybe then we would be closer than close and I wouldn't be the one
                    you disrespected the most.

If only I knew how to make it all better, that would be the best gift
I could ever get even more than a card or letter.

For us to be closer than close like moms and daughters are supposed
                    to be.

I just don't ever see that being possible for you and me.

Lord knows how hard I've tried and in many different ways.
To just be able to hear those words to have my daughter say.

That she loves me and let me hug and love her any time I want you see
instead what I get is hateful hurtful things said and done, a hug you need
to ask for one " don't hang on me ".

To be able to kiss my beautiful daughters sweet face, and for her to
welcome me with a loving embrace.

It hurts me more than you can ever even phathom or begin to see,I
I guess that's how its always gonna be for you and me.

Just know that I am always here for you and love you no matter
what you say or do wrong.

I just wish I could be the person that would make you proud to say
                      " That's my mom ".

My Daughter

A baby born, precious and sweet
a little girl, to make my life complete
and, you grow.

Into a toddler, on the run
with wiggles and giggles and lots of fun
and, you grow.

Into a child with eyes of blue,
golden hair, and attitude
and, you grow.

Into a young lady, beautiful to see
growing into, the woman you'll be
and, you grow.

Into a woman, but, that's not the end
you're not only my daughter, you are my friend
and, we grow.

The Day My Daughter Was Born

I knew I loved you before I knew you were to be born, I made life long promises to you before I knew you were to be born. I just couldn’t imagine just how much I would love you at that time until the day you were born, the moment I found out that I was going to be a mother I was shocked at first but when the shock wore off I was beyond joy.

I couldn’t wait for the day that I would finally meet you, to hold you in my arms, to kiss your beautiful head and to rock you to sleep. I was scared about breast breastfeeding you because of how top-heavy I am, so I decided to bottle feed you instead.

I took parenting classes to make sure that I would know how to care for you, I want you to have a better life then I did growing up. I will make sure that you do because I’ll make sure with all of my power that you do have a better life than me.

I’ll get you whatever you want and need all you have to do is ask me, you are my special and precious little baby girl. You claimed my heart for your own when you were born.

My Daughter and Son-In -Law

So beautiful they are in their hearts soul and mind
Sweet laughter and logic they will never leave behind

Each one as unique as a precious gem
Of a special love that only they can give

Their minds on an endless flight
Will always soar high and out of sight

As the stars start to light the sky at night
and you see a star flash that has gone by

Remember the love that I give you
To my daughter and son who will always be one.

My Daughter, My Hero

Who is your hero?
As for me, I would have to say,
"My Daughter, My Hero."
She brings joy and happy tears to my eyes each time she says,
"Mommy, I Love You."
So once again I ask
who is your hero?
And once again I reply
"My Daughter, My Hero"
Although my reasons would change for I have so many,
She is my hero for she brings laughter when I am sad, and is there to inform me
that everything will be alright.
She is my hero for she is there to take care of me as I am there for her.
She comes to me before any other.
And once again I ask,
Who is your hero?
As for me, I again reply,
"My Daughter, My Hero."

Ode To My Daughter On Her Birthday - 26

My Sarah
When I looked at you last week trying on your new boots
Those almond eyes sparkling at something new, a gift
I saw my little pink girl, a princess, playing dress up again
Your long hair draped your high cheekbones
Life still a game, tinged with drama and theatre
As you look for fun in all your pursuits!
A player in life with a passion for cooking and music
You have become a kind, loyal, vivacious young woman
Self assured, grounded with a love of tradition
I looked at you and felt an overwhelming pride.

Sunday’s child is ' bonny, blithe, good and gay' they say
Befitting my Sabbath girl, a model child of few demands
Your bedroom a vast sea of Barbie and friends
A Passion for story-time and books
Your Dutch life with Irish sea-touched roots,
You are a real continental
A great scholar with degrees in Law and Psychoanalysis
You have found your true love with Luis, a Spaniard
As you both prepare to leave the Emerald Isle
I wonder at the achievement of you!
