Frozen Noose

Anxiety (The Worst Noose In Town)

-- like flooding waters, creeping in
I count 30, seconds, holding my breath again
Drowning in agitation, overwhelmed by fear
I try to hide the pressure in hopes I don't pass out
My pores are soaked, from all the perspiration
I feel the pins and needles pushing in
My skin is ruined from all the peeling
At this point, I can't seem to win

Washed out by dead hope and desire
My soul is lost searching for a shore
leashing, grasping and ripping the chest wide
I count 40, seconds, once nausea can't be blocked
Everything about this moment is driving me mad,
I need to escape, however, my knees are too weak
I tremble while losing control to the emotional distress
My knuckles are pale, detached from reality,
wounds forced with further embarrassment.
Guaranteed failure surrounds my day
Numbness strikes my very essence - I can't move!

Lost in a room,
Therapy - even so I feel singled out

HAPPY VALENTINES (it can get the best of us)
---------------------------- love Linda

I Share My Soul

A pair of morning doves preen and prim
snuggled close on their favorite limb.
And cooing low wake a sleeping sun
giving praise for a new day begun.

A slip of a ghostly moon rides low
wearing its light like a pale halo.
And Sol ascends master of the day
hailing dawn with His brilliant display.

Vapors shed crystal tears on the grass
depositing dewdrops clear as glass.
And blooming flowers imbue the air
with a sweet fragrance beyond compare.

Tall lanky palms of feathery leaf
are clad in a green southern motif.
And skittish crabs play tag with the waves
darting in and out of flooded caves.

Sipping wine while enjoying the show
we greet the day with a happy glow.
And as romance and nature combine
I share my soul, with my Valentine.

Night Of Dreams

Under stars so bright
Under guise of night
Night laid low
Night shall show
Show sparks of gold
Show feelings told
Told in heaven's skies
Told in gleaming eyes
Eyes so blue
Eyes held ever true
True love grows
True love we only know
Know in this my heart
Know here my feelings start
Start so ever deep
Start where we will keep
Keep our romantic rendezvous
Keep alive our "I love you"
You as one with me
You can only see
See where our futures lie
See our visions fly
Fly up to greater peaks
Fly to where our cravings seek
Seek your soul to get
Seek times to not forget
Forget me not
Forget your scent
Scent of ambrosia
Scent of seduction
Seduction fills the air
Seduction for two
Two minds
Two lips
Lips ruby red
Lips trace
Trace your fingers
Trace your kiss
Kiss me
Kiss me my sweet
Sweet love of mine
Sweet as the daisies sway
Sway into my arms
Sway softly away
Away with my charm
Away in my dreams
Dreams of a fairytale story
Dreams of a life in love
Love . . .
Story . . .

My first read at 19 years of age - ah, the adventures it led me on! Just Another Valentine

Countless hearts and roses fall for sake of heeding Cupid's call ...
And yet I fail for phrasing, new, imparting fresh, my "I love you"
(For poets, past, have said it all) ...

Perchance I'll find the words inside your hazel gaze, quite starry-eyed
The limpid peepers, fair and fierce, that pity, not, the heart they pierce
(Or pulses hurried, closed or wide) ...

Could be, the words hide in your grin, and dance, demurely, with your chin
Coaxed to shine, as sound is swirled, (much like your smile), to warm the world
(Dusted, soft - a touch of sin) ...

Perhaps the terms lie in your shape - the curves, sublime, to finely drape
That, placed in motion, thus defy all other graces brought to eye
(And leaving countless jaws agape) ...

Maybe the phrase lies in your hair - soft, tawny strands of tresses, fair
Or on your skin, so silken - chaste, the unseen places, meant to taste
(Adorned in only moonlight, rare) ...

Or maybe, found in ALL of these, the words to bring me to my knees
In reverence of the reasons, true, that consecrate the wonder, YOU
(And set my sifting heart at ease) ...

But, I think I'm far more apt to find the words to phrase this Valentine
In things that senses can't impart, the YOU abiding in your heart ...
Caring, thoughtful, sure, and kind ...

A sense-of-humor and artful mind - dark and light and grey, combined
The body, heart and soul refined of all that I have e'er consigned ...
Yes, now my words ... are Valentined.

Forever

Forever is a word for fools,
a word that describes a time
that will never come.
Always is a word for dreamers,
a word that describes wishes
and forgets reality.
Never is a word that forgets
what we don't know about tomorrow.

As for me, I'm a fool forever,
who dreams of always
having you to love,
and never forgets that tomorrow
is nothing without you.

My Funny Valentine

Vino
Vinny
Vino
Vinny
There was no doubt I was seeing double
Vinny poured another glass
I actually think it was whiskey
There we sat, at the back of the Angelos Steak and Kill
The joke wasn’t lost on many
The joint was dark and filled with smoke
Each booth offering up its own unique privacy

Never an evening went by
That some devious plot or plan wasn’t being hatched
Tonight was no different
Vinny laid it all out on a napkin
He told me revenge is bitter sweet
Tomorrow night we would feast on the bitter and the sweet
I had no doubts
I was ready to prove my worth
I was ready

Well the next night came faster than a hangover
Eight of us left in two cars
We had a shot of grapa, only that
The Capone said we needed all are wits about us tonight, and then some
Now no one could argue that, and no one would

Laughter and bravado go hand in hand
We arrived on the side street, where one lone doorman
Was smoking his life away
Little did he know, how soon that *** would be his demise
One shot to the head, and blood spurted
The water fountain of death
Began its dance

In went Vinny in the lead and me right on behind
One doesn’t waste time with fancy introductions
We were there to deliver the red blood of revenge
Sweet death served to order, and we followed orders
The dinnerware and glasses shattered, wine became blood
Made men fell, bullets tangoed uniting the living with the dead

A blood bath
There are no other words to explain
The dead danced with our bullets and fell onto the now red carpet
Revenge was served, they said bitter sweet
Me, I fell to my knees
Vinny he looked over with an uncomprehending stare

The waitress serving drinks
Was shot right through the heart, it was my bullet
That murdered my finance
For me this revenge was to be only bitter
Dazed I lay, in a pool of blood, hers

Sirens in the distance
Vinny yelling, get the hell up, get the hell up
There was no heaven or up for me
I was as good as dead
They left
I crawled over to her

Tears clouded my vision
I laid my head upon her breast
Entwined in agony, within the grasp of reaper
I caressed her soft hair, I kissed the sour blood of my sins
My enemies in death, served me my own poison

She put a finger to her lips
Seductively
She whispered shhhhhhhh
I whispered back, with my now black heart

Be my
Funny valentine

She smiled softly and died

Valentines Death

Red roses true
Skies so blue
Lovers doing what lovers do
Chocolates and confessions
of eternal love
Building up hopes and dreams

I, behind the counter
At the ripe old age of 69
Watch all the youth
Filled with hope and desire
Love is like clouds in the carefree sky
They all stare and thrust
Hoping to latch onto a dream

Reality is not so kind
Illusions die on the ides
Kisses left unfulfilled
Roses with more thorns than hope
Wine so sour, blood is in flavor

Ah, but for now they are all happy
Holding hands and bouquets
Pink roses and red carnations
The road they know not to damnation

Who am I? To spoil a dream
Who am I? To laugh when they scream
You see love was a knife
That murdered me long, long ago

I may breathe, but the death possessed me
The life all but left me
So tonight as lovers kiss and fondle
I wish them well, from far over yonder
I kicked out the chair
The rope taunt and tight
As my last breath
Whispered to my long lost love
Good night

- Valentines Kiss -

Forever dazzling golden memories treasure flashbacks
Floating always within deep waters mirror reflections

There's nothing in the universe that compares to you
Into our world of inspirational and beautiful dreams

Growing wings in loves light freedom flies
Inside dancing warm waves of feathered feelings

I believe that you're my destiny I see the shine in my life
These are the special things that make me love you

Soul touching beautiful blue rising sparkling diamond kiss
Salted from deepest ocean currents one dream sings

Exactly where the ocean begins and it decides to meet
Making me want to live in the moment forever

Sweet lips burst with flavor tides turn as the piper fish plays music
Flying over the sea sweet tunes dancing in ripples of light

With honesty and compassion a gift so great
I can only give you one thing my love is where you are

Unexpected events

My watch is broken, I can not wait for you to get here
The sun is heating,(I cannot believe) today, we're finally meeting.
I'm not quite sure how I'm gonna act or what I'm gonna say
But of one thing I'm sure, when you'll be in front of me, you'll take my breath away.

While I'm waiting, my mind is flying away
From the moment you'll get here, to the first move you'll make.
I just wish, this day to be perfect
I hope I'm ready for any unexpected events.

It's getting late and you're nowhere to be found
I'm getting all kinds of emotions, but is nothing I can do about..
The park is empty, looks like the rain is gonna arrive
I guess I should be going too, nothing makes me stay around.

Maybe you got stuck in traffic or you've just changed your mind,
Either way, I better go now, maybe we'll get to meet some other time..
And now my battery is dying, I have such a lucky day,
I don't think this day could get any better,
           >>no 'eff!n' way!!<<

Where should I go now? to the hotel or to a pub?
I'll get me something to drink before Imma call it a nite.
I don't find my card key, guess I'm losing my mind..
Huh?!
Who the 'eff' are you 'my friend'?
Why do you have to honk so loud?

    you: Hey!!!
    me: Gosh, you scared me!
you: Where are you going? don't we have a date?
me: Hey, you're the one that got here late.
you: Yeah, I'm sorry. look, I've been running all the way...
me: Cool. I'm glad you came.
I'm starving. where you gonna take me?
you: well, since our picnic is ruined, thanks to the coming rain..
lemme take you to my favorite restaurant..
    me: sounds great. OK.

While in the car, you've turned on the radio
And the silliest song was playing in the air
Smiling, you looked at me and started dancing
Gosh, you're amazing. (that's what I said)

We've got to the restaurant
It's getting pretty hot
No sign of the rain now
Guess she just changed her mind.

When I stepped inside
My favorite song was playing .. so loud
And once you've heard it, you took my hand in yours and smiled
you: Hey, this is our song since now!!

Since then I got this feeling, this awesome feeling inside
I'm with the right person and the nite has just begun
You're full of surprises, beautiful and kind
For me you are so special, I'll roll my dice tonight.

Next thing I know, we were back in the car
The music was playing loud, you were driving too far
The last stop we've made, was at the hotel I'm staying
You grabbed me in your arms and .. and then's when it started ... raining.

The weather gets colder, your hand is on my shoulder,
I ask you if you want to come and wait inside.
The fireplace is on, your clothes are on the stove
I bring you comfy clothes, while you're in the shower.

The rain is falling from the sky, the night is deep, looks black and white
I pour you a glass of wine while getting closer.
The electricity goes off, all of a sudden
We're in the dark, the music stops - I lit (up) a candle.

Looks like the rain has stopped now (or for the moment)
I pour you another glass of wine..
I touch your hand, you're grabbing mine
And pull me closer.

The last thing I remember, you were playing through my hair
I felt your (warm) breath down on my neck and I've kissed your shoulder
Slowly, you laid me down, on the floor, whispering something in my ear
Your fingers were walking down my spine, I've closed my eyes.. that's when we've kissed.

We've spent the night together, sleeping in each other arms
I was your blanket, you were my pillow - the dawn was coming fast.
I woke up and.. watching you sleeping
You found me smiling when you've opened your eyes.

Things went so fast - time was flying by
Only four days, until we say goodbye.
All the sand from the beach, the pictures framed in our minds
The scrambled eggs in the mornings, (all those) kisses (stolen) through the night.

While I'm counting the seconds, my mind is flying away
From the moment we've met, to the last thing you'll say.
I just wish, this day to last forever
I hope our story will never have an end.

In the airport, while waiting for our planes to come
Our silly love song was playing one more time
And once again, you took my hand in yours and smiled
That's when you've asked me, if I want to be ... your wife.

My Jazmine

Her eyes are brown,
Her smile is wide.
she has stolen my heart,
she holds my dreams.
she never ceases to amaze me;
her voice is like soft music in my ears,
her kiss is like a sweet cherry freshly picked,
she smells like a full bloomed rose.
as i hold her now
i see my life and wife in her eyes.
she is my bellissima amour.
we grew up together,
we used to play together,
who could have known?
she would be my love
my one, my only
my Jazmine.

Penny Hearts

Penny Hearts

I remember my penny hearts,
The ones you carved and painted red.
Each night I clutched them to my heart
While dreaming of you in my bed.

You were my first sweet Valentine.
I recall the deep love we shared;
How you pursued me with flowers,
And poetry to prove you cared.

Our romance soared into the clouds.
Your handsome face I memorized,
Each lash, each curve of your tan face
Etched in my mind, immortalized.

Constant daydreams would fill my days
Until at last we could unite
To capture stars within our eyes.
Our future seemed so very bright.

But alas, it was not to be.
So many things that would divide
Our sacred love that we both felt
Was doomed and buried deep inside.

With joy I'll always remember
How great it felt to be a part
Of a tender love so inclined
To value high, each penny heart.

1-24-18

*Dedicated to my first love who spent hours carving
those pennies into hearts to create a bracelet for me.

VALENTINE SHMALENTINE

Oh, no, he best not patronize me on Valentines. If I must dramatize appreciation, I shall agonize. Each year, he thinks chocolates will rationalize spending his time guarding the sofa so it won’t rise, while my cooking and housework threaten to paralyze all I am behind my victimized and exhausted eyes. Unless he bears one, one way ticket for me to paradise or procures a gift he ingests that will tranquilize, he can stuff candy hearts in his behind so gelatinized. The last time I fell for that darned, deceiving cupid I committed to him and living my life forever stupid.

A RED NECK LOVE POEM

Susie Lee done fell in love.

Captive Deep Blue Je Reviens

"Captive Deep Blue Je Reviens"
I walk beside you in your dreams, you are always in me warm and pounding, twin heart, burning bright flame, beautiful addiction captive deep blue je reviens Sun igniting, I stand with you invisible in deserted French vanilla streets, holding your hand, fingers entwined the warm breeze caresses skin, lingers like lips your after scent hidden on me. Undressed my deserted garden waits wild abandoned, growing lurid pinks recklessly stranded impatiens they are waiting lying open in beckoning lush wet valleys of pungent violets, wild primroses, erin lillies and oriental orchids serpents climbing thick green wooded trees wrapping legs, bare feet “K.I.S.S.”, you whisper to me. I never leave you throughout my days you are always in me warm and pounding, twin heart, burning bright flame, beautiful addiction captive deep blue je reviens and the nights I sleep breathing in and out in crushed velvet dark your name speaks mine whispering sweet longings sliding hips our hands drawing new cartography. Awake I am searching for you while scrying mirrors it’s not my eyes I see Yours are the windows of another soul staring back at me Somewhere on the other side worlds away from me Confederate Ghost betwitching familiar haunting passionate down to a sunless sea spent obsidian clandestine Coleridge My absent Valentine Split in two, living in another time. I walk beside you in your dreams, you are always in me warm and pounding, twin heart, burning bright flame, beautiful addiction captive deep blue je reviens My absent Valentine. (Lovejoy-Burton/Jan 2018)
“And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething, As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing, A mighty fountain momently was forced: Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst  Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail, Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail: And 'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever It flung up momently the sacred river.  “

In Room Enclosed, We Travel

This Valentine, my love, will be divine
I’ll whisk you off to every place and clime
In room enclosed, we’ll travel round the globe
Enchantment waits for us as we disrobe

You'll lay me down on sandy island shore
“Pretend” our game, adventure calls for more
With sweetness on your lips, mine own you'll kiss
A taste that rivals chocolate from the Swiss

I'll whisper tales of wild Arabian Nights
And plop into your mouth Turkish Delights
I'll play the part of harem girl, then maid
Then Warrior Princess come your heart to raid

I’ll shower you with kisses, sweet and wet
And make you lose your clothes on poker bet
Those Vegas lights will twinkle in my eyes
Then off to masquerade in a disguise

Our bodies fuse on our gondola dream
We skinny dip into Venetian stream
The scented candles dim and light peeks in
Your glow, my love, your scent is on my skin

The world is you; you are my every place
There is no beauty finer than your face
This very room where you've made love to me
Is paradise and where I long to be

My Dark Valentine

Dark, my heart, that makes chocolate jealous
And I so sweet, sugar refuses to melt.
Red, my blood, that makes cut roses cuss,
And I pierce my skin a welcomed welt.

My Valentine lovestruck kissing me like a queen,
And I prepare this love affair with tendrils unseen.
I take his taste upon my tongue, wear him like cologne,
Feed him his own vitriol to make him know he’s owned.

Sharp, my eyes, dagger his soul with lies,
And I quicken my blade with awesome power.
Steel, my lips, with a sawblade disguise,
And I stand before him a thorny flower.

My Valentine starstruck melting in caustic rain,
dripping in my acidic tears and burning in my pain.
Spitting out the sarcasm, his words in my mouth vial
And all knew I hated him when our words went viral.

Torn, my heart, a matchstick from the cover,
and struck to ignition against the grain
Burned, my fingers, the touch of demon lover,
and I know it will always be the same refrain.

My Valentine bladestruck doubled over in bed
and I'm soaking up the fragments of him in my head.
Grinning at the lingering ghost that is tied to the post,
This years Valentine is the one that I love the most.

Kiss me Quiet

It's near midnight, whilst we moonlight walk Palm tree lined fairway, Crickets singing Hands clenched in loving vacationed talk Hearts in wanting pound, Batangas is bringing We, she and I, now amidst our intending lock Serenity is the scene blessed by lunar watch So late, but joyous we, soon our lips are speaking Clouds now hover as we witness natures rain Our apartment is distant, we welcome given Through broken lunar light, stroking her mane My hands in taken then, sensuously they're driven Kiss me quiet is whispered, hearts now in reign Walking, slowly walking, absorbing to us this night Hearts in touching pound, Batangas has brought .
