Dreams of India
Her music haunts me
in such a knowing way
it makes me weep
and causes my heart to ache.
I become homesick for her
scents, her sounds, her food,
her enchanting dance
which spawns dreams
of her romance.
I know in my heart
I have lived there,
I know, I have loved there.
Her poetry transcends
my spirit to encompass
a wholeness that is
so familiar to me.
I dream of the Ganges ,
and her gentle cleansing flow,
of reflections on its surface
when the moon is hanging low.
Of crickets singing nightly
to serenade me to sleep.
I dream of colors of the saris,
the beauty that they keep...
Of garlands placed with care,
a gajra in a maiden's hair
and the hues of floral leis.
I hold a reverence for Hindu
Devata and Devi.
I aspire to learn the sacredness
of varmala in the seeds of
past lifetimes I have shared.
A passion grows for those
whose love glows through their
auras to welcome strangers.
I'd love to share a cup of chai
to chat with friends in open air.
I long to return home, though
I have never been there.

*a gajra: flowers which females use as a decoration
for their hair.
*Varmala: is a tradition from ancient times where a beautiful garland of flowers symbolizes a proposal of marriage. In the tradition of Swayamvar. A female would choose her life partner from a group of suitors by placing a flower garland around the neck of her chosen man. Once the girl had made her choice, a marriage ceremony would be held gright away.

In the twilight of suspended star thunder
where the waking jungle and broken Temple of tradition meet one another
she moves with a panthera prana, pranayama of precise paradise, air of spaceless pleasure,
A lavender Tigress of effortless enlightenment
seeking sensations on the edge of eternity's cremation,
on her fingertips questions and answers dance to mudras of nimble demolition
as the triumph of truth blazes on the tip of her tongue's flavored amusement,
genetics of ginger helix she licks and sticks to the flesh of nude nirvana
limber in the moment of typeless titillation,
becoming an animal of fearless asana,
a creature of chaos prowling along the heartbeat of karma,
Brahma made her beauty from the diamonds of a billion deceased roses,
the ascetics recognize her as a child of Kali, gorgeous and gruesome in vendetta,
for the Brahmins she is a Mother of immeasurable mystery, a kiss on the eye of history,
worshipers whisper the wealth of her shameless and shapeless clarity, as charity of Parvati,
Heirlooms of sun blood and moon love decorate the tender truth of her body,
a garden of webbing galaxies, catching the notions of novas her mandala,
rain romantic in flying fall, plucking the Ganges sitar her mantra,
the movement of melange madness through perfect passion her sutra,
poetry naked on the nerves of nascent love need is her tantra,
chakras uniting to recreate the uncreated color of consciousness, crown her aura,
as the lotus of love blooms blue, she dances on the fragrance of freedom -

I feel helpless I dont know where to start,
you are one of my four beating hearts,
the second beauty I brought into this world,
I can only watch from a distance,
from the barrier you set to others,
I feel the need to wonder because I feel helpless,
its fear that sets my weakness for you ,
a fear that has hit like a tidal wave I feel helpless,
you seem so alone and I dont know why,
I watch you ....emoitionless and I just want to cry I feel helpless,
it's a world of mental illness I could never understand,
it's a weakness always judged even at my own hand,
But now I see you suffer harder and harder days,
with no way of hepling I feel helpless,
My second born daughter so beautiful and strong,
for all you go through and your days still go on,
you wake day by day and you hold ur hands high,
to the reason you stay in this world,
I can only be glad you think of me that way because I feel helpless.

These young boys and girls, were brought up,
By their parents, with great love and affection,
Now they are mad, in love for their motherland,
To show the splendors of their youthful energy.
They are ready even to sacrifice their heads,
What to say of body pains and tortures inflicted on them,
By seeing such fearlessness and energy of their youth,
Even the enemy gets ashamed of, dear letter.
Triloki was one of these young boys,
Who happily took bullets on his chest, dear letter,
And kept on moving ahead without withdrawing,
Keeping the dignity of our nation and Satyagraha.
DESCRIPTION OF MY CITY ALLAHABAD
You will find my beautiful city Allahabad,*
In an ecstasy and full of rapture, flowing in it’s air,
When you will move on its roads and streets,
Along with the Postman, dear letter.

Patradoot in Hindi was originally written by my late father
Dr. Amar Nath Kapoor around 1932, who was a freedom fighter.
He wrote Patradoot in Hindi, when he was kept in Faizabad Jail for quite
a long time. The Epic was written as a gift for my mother and it was
sent to her secretly from Faizabad Jail. He was imprisoned
by the British, as he was fighting for India's freedom
under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. He was imprisoned
many times during 1920 to 1947. After India’s
independence as a true follower of Gandhi Dr. Amar Nath
Kapoor left active politics and devoted rest of his life in
writing easy mass literature and wrote many Dramas,
Poetry books, epics. All his other literary
works were mainly written from 1955 to 1990.
He left this mortal world in 1994.

Song Lines in English
Every day, these clouds come and
They come in abundance,
Sometimes, they come flying and
they just go away,
Sometimes these clouds come
to shower their heavy rains,
But sometimes they spread only
Their fragrance and colours.
These clouds also contains
The gushes of your sweet pleasing fragrance,
Which diffuse the entire atmosphere
By the beauty of that mild aroma,
Which hangs everywhere.
Whenever
These beautiful clouds come
They fill my eyes
With some tears also.

This is an ancient land lapped by two seas in the south,
girdled by mountains the highest on the earth.
Many mighty rivers flow across this fertile land,
monsoon rains wash the land where I took my birth.
An eon old civilization grew in west flank,
permeated the native race of the land.
They assimilated flux of foreign invasion,
made country’s diversity a unique brand.
Steeped in Vedic culture and the karmic way of life,
takes pride in the invention of the zero.
In midst of medley of custom, language and belief
modern times are now coming at a pace slow.
Time will come when the nation will take its rightful place
in the world stage regaining its lost aura.
Glorious sun of eminence will rise in the east,
shine on future of my country India.

The Greek origins of our word for "matter," is the same for "measure" and MEASURING, as well as a few other terms that carry surprises.
First, however, there is no separate word for matter in Sanskrit, or broadly Hindu VEDANTA Philosophy. Indians and Hindus use a joint term, NAMA-RUPA or simply NAMARUPA: "name and form." As a young Hindu child in South Africa - of all places - I knew this. It was the term that stood for all REALITY - a combination of names and forms.
II
The surprises are for MATTER, its Greek origins also connect with MAYA or "illusory reality." Maya also includes the individual "ego-identity," as Indian philosophy generally sees "ego" as a temporary identity that is fluid and transient. Like an iceberg floating in an ocean, will not be a separate form of water for long.
Matter is also connected with the words METER or "metre" and MATER for mother.
I
I am with Liberty
At least I was
Until 2019, before the Virus
Now as in puerile freedoms
(Just words, not many will sacrifice for;
Most people go along, as with Trump in USA)
So, I was with Liberty University
In Virginia, the world's largest Christian university
When Jerry Jr. supported the Donald, I left the country
"Leave of absence," I said
Now how many atheists support Donald Trump?
II
Mandela of South Africa might have rotted in prison
Yet 27 years later he emerged, with more passion
For freedom than those who were "born free," taught "Reason,"
How do we explain this Freedom's mystery?
Men - and women - under the boot of racism
Emerge with a greater testimony of Freedom
Than the Teachers, the advocates, the age-old Practitioner?
Gandhi, too, born under British colonialism
Not only imparted freedom in South Africa, but in his own nation
Then a dose of Christian moral conviction:
"I'll be a Christian if the West practices Jesus' famed Sermon"
III
Hey, I was a communist and atheist by persuasion
Because as a child I knew no fairness, no freedom
Then how this Christian conversion?
Now I come to my theme, topic, and Question:
There is a Spirit, we call it Spirit of The Original QUESTION:
Yes, God is the Original Question, Miss & Mr. Reason!
As He seems to ask the rhetorical question:
When a non-life form, Corona Virus, can quiet our planes & "System"
When every Tom, Dick, & Maggie are in prayer now
What are the atheists saying, what are they doing?
Maybe some good atheist will help us Predict the next dislocation?
(Bring me your bold, meek, strong, the weak.
I reside within thee all _no matter the language you speak.)
I had a talk with Jesus and he had a lot to say.
He asked me why, when given the truth many turn away.
He thought he'd left his teachings in our good hands.
We were to spread peace and love throughout the lands.
All are welcome to the truth, rich, poor, and the downtrodden;
those that shine with the sun; and those time has forgotten.
The "Woke", the sleep; those harden, and those who weep.
For I know the words you speak_ and secrets you keep.
All know my name no matter the tongue,
the truth of my name was not limited to one.
The changing of the languages changed the game.
Now I am known not by one_ but many a name.
So pray with the language_ the origin of your start.
Prayers have more meaning when spoken from your heart.
All know my name no matter the tongue.
The truth of my name was not limited to one.
I now call on Jesus with the tongue of my birth;
that's the name for me of the most value and worth.
All know his name no matter the tongue.
the truth of his name was not limited to one.

Photo Poem . 01
In English-
.
These beautiful swans adjusting their wings slowly
While focusing their eyes and concentration in the lake water
The Sun seems a little uneasy in such calm & quietness
The magic of the scene enchanted even the winds
Earlier, such a scenic beauty was so common
in our villages near ponds and puddles
But all this is lost in the dust of modern forests
We no more see frequently those farm and the barns
How very far away,
We have gone from our beautiful Natural surroundings
From the enchanting inherent beauty of our country's life. "
.
In Hindi
.
"ye apanee pankhon ko hole se samet kar baithate
paanee mein nazaren tikaate sundar se Hans pakshee
khaamosh fizaaon mein kuchh machalata sa sooraj
ye thahari havaon ka madahosh karata jaadoo
pahale kabhee dikhata tha har gaanv aur pokhar par
par khoya ye sab, ab aadhunik jangal mein
ab to khet aur khalihaan bhee nahin dikhate aksar,
kitane door ho gae hain hm, sb se apne sundar parivesh se
apanee desh ke jeevan kii sundarata aur sahajata se."

Tesu A Folk Love Story of India Part. 4
Prelude Note:
The story as painted here on Poetry Soup
is the sole creation and imagination of the writer,
except the names Tesu and Jhonjhi.
The Poem Tesu is based on a folk story of India.
The Tesuwalas* (little children with a earthen lamp
on their heads) as depicted in the Poem are gradually
diminishing with the passing of time and changing life
styles. It's a tribute to that great warrior and lover Tesu,
who sacrificed his life because he had given words
to someone. How and when you would come to
know soon ....
With best wishes before the festival of Dewali (Light)

Tesu A Folk Love Story of India Part. 4
This is how , the existence
of the name & deeds of Tesu
Was saved by small village children
who are carrying it since ages
On their pretty little heads. 09
Though the name and story has lost
Its real warmths and glamour
In the mind of those
Who have forgotten
This non painted hero
Of the bygone age. 10
By coming only once in a year near Dewali*
These little children
Carry Tesu and Jhonjhi,
While singing the Songs
Of their forgotton love story
As a rememberance of a Hero
And his lovely bold beloved Jhonjhi. 11 To continue...

Clarification of Hindi words*
Dewali* - The festival of light.
Tesu* - The Name of the hero of this Poem.
Tesuwalas* - Hindi word. The young boys
and girls, who carry The decorated
earthen pot with holes and a light
inside on their head and come
Once in a year near Dewali are
called ‘Tesuwalas
A dance to hidden music
with a handsome fellow
who seems to sense my mood
he holds me close as we whirl
Then leading me to scented gardens
he points out the heavenly stars
telling me stories of each one
how they came to be in Dream Time
He romances me with his wondrous stories
telling of mystic places far, far away
all the time holding my hand tenderly
we stroll through the scented gardens
A feeling of peace and paradise fill me
so close I feel to him, love in my soul
this tender meeting of two separate minds
takes me far away to Nirvana in his arms
I traveled the world
And though it is vast
I still need a truth
That would always last
Studied some books
And know my mind too
The whole time God knows
Only love will do
Studied Religion and
Forever I found
Even God loves Love
On this I expound
My Mom in my life
Always there for me
Taught me that true love
Would there always be
Love doesn't judge man
And I'm very free
From color or type
Of good company
True love doesn't die
"Oh Love, you'll abound,"
Despite all the bad
You'll stand your ground
Love's the Law for me
We are always free
Love keeps me alive
This is Love's decree.
