Premium Member Eternal Life and the Total Self

Life is but a fleeting whisper echoing through time,
never dying, always being- magnificent and sublime.
The body's a receptacle, a superficial shell,
but in it dwells the gift of Soul; eternity knows it well.

The Soul contains the truths of life,
to all that's ever been;
to all things now, and yet to come,
but guards them deep within.

The mind has hidden doors to Soul; we long to find the key,
unleash the vision waiting there, that lives eternally.
And so mind seeks to open wide, grasp firm the light of Soul.
and at that moment when it does, we know we will be whole.

So when we penetrate the shield
that stands between these two,
we will perceive with inner sight-
our Soul, complete and new.

If in this life, we cannot grasp this bond of Soul and mind,
we'll be reborn to live again, till total self we find.
We've been before, so many times; we've known many a past.
We'll be again- an echo in time, till mind and Soul are fast.

And when that final day does come,
at last to lift our Soul,
for Him to gather in His arms-
our perfect self- now whole.

Some religions, like Hinduism, believe in reincarnation which refines the soul by it living many lifetimes, and after it is perfected, goes back to God. My poem is based on that belief. So many people, including myself, have inner feelings or momentary flashbacks like they have lived before in another life.

You Are My Durga

You are the earth and you are the mother
You are my Durga - you can multi-tusk
Of your children, let me be the father
You work really hard, from dawn to dusk

You are my Durga - you can multi-tusk
You play so many roles - in daily chore
You work really hard, from dawn to dusk
Raising children, doing your job and more

You play so many roles - in daily chore
Mother, teacher, daughter, friend, wife and all
Raising children, doing your job and more
You are present - at every beck and call

Mother, teacher, daughter, friend, wife and all
You are perfect in each role you perform
You are present - at every beck and call
Let's worship Durgas and make it a norm

You are perfect in each role you perform
Of your children, let me be the father
Let's worship Durgas and make it a norm
You are the earth and you are the mother

Durga is the principal form of the Goddess, also known as Devi and Shakti in Hinduism. Durga the mahashakti, the form and formless, is the root cause of creation, preservation and annihilation.

Premium Member The Third Eye In Hinduism-N

The spirit or third eye is the center to see the world
Without it there is all pervading spiritual darkness.
We are truly spirits who occupy physical bodies
Without bodies couldn’t be a part of physical reality.

Boosts functions of perception, intuition, visualization
Its element light, the seat of the Soul, color indigo
The ability to see within and beyond the physical
Between eyebrows the tenth gate of inner realms.

In Hinduism one of the Lord Shiva of Trinity is three-eyed
It symbolizes spiritual knowledge and power or wisdom
Left eye the moon, right the sun and fire the third
Known to annihilate the evil activities in the physical world.

Nationalists

Nationalists

Demonise the religious extremism with full force
How sweet it is that I am with you
Be it Islam, Christianity, Hinduism or Buddhism
No heck to distinguish any one from the others
They are the same weed of the same soil
Eating up the crop of humanity
But what about nationalism and its product the nationalists
They are not less criminals when they go to kill millions
In the name of nations or in the name of races
Think of the world wars first and second
And count in your fingers the deaths and devastation
They bought upon us, upon our humanity
I am here to declare a Jihad against those who are to say
Peace is not profitable but war is
And national interest is above anything else
Rather than the interest of human being
I am also against those hypocrites who say
Nuclear weapons are meant for peace
Nothing can be more bull **** than this
Do you agree with me?
Shall we meet in a corner of lighted street?
Or are you from the same group of garbage nationalist?
Any difference of opinion from you is the answer
And yet I will not hate you
Kindly from me take the unbreakable promise.

A Man of the Cloth

A thin, frail man of the cloth
who went to England to study law at the age of 19
It was there that he was inspired by
Henry David Thoreau’s ‘Civil Disobedience’

On Jan. 30, 1948 at 5:12 in the evening
as he walked to a prayer meeting
Nathuram Vanayak Godge,
a young Hindu who opposed his views
approached him and bowed
A young girl in the group said
“Brother, Bapu is already late”
He pushed her aside and shot him...
three times in the chest
with a Beretta semi-automatic pistol

His last words were “Rama, Rama”
meaning to him ‘The same God’
Rama is derived from the Hebrew word ‘womb’
also meaning mercy and compassion
which is why it is said that he forgave his killer
before he died…

The name Mahatma means ‘great soul’
Just as Gandhi was inspired by Thoreau
Martin Luther King was in turn inspired by Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi. A thin, frail man of the cloth
who shook the world to its very foundations
And the battle rages on...

***Dedicated to the people of the country of Bangladesh, who have suffered yet another great tragedy...One of many in their very short history. Gandhi, by the way, strongly opposed the division of the two countries when they won independence...The title of this poem of course does not mean that Gandhi was Catholic or any other Christian religion. Gandhi practiced Hinduism, yet he was a true 'man of the cloth'...wearing only homemade loincloths and sandals

"Don’t try to drag me into Oz

--From "Malice In Wonderland" by Joyce Rugg

The scandal behind us,
We look to break through
To a new dimension.
The mind folds inward
leaving creases.
The mind lives inside the the brain—
A large surface if all spread out.
Neurons are agitated;
Glitches occur.
Events spew forth like comets,
And the mind reels.
Mistakes are made like pudding.
Upon a moment’s notice
Some file is missing.
Something in the wiring has
shorted out.
Evil come, evil go.
Evil marches to and fro.

*In Hinduism, and in particular Jnana Yoga and Advaita Vedanta, neti neti is a Sanskrit expression which means "not this, not this", or "neither this, nor that" It is found in the Upanishads and the Avadhuta Gita and constitutes an analytical meditation helping a person to understand the nature of Brahman by first understanding what is not Brahman. --Wikipedia

Premium Member Chanting

Higher consciousness can be attained through chanting.
"OM" is a popular chant within many a religion,
including but not limited to Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism.
I do my share of chanting now and again,
but I don't chant "OM," I chant "Amen"
a chant that while chanted can also sung,
Amen, Amen, over and over again.

Hinduism

Belief in reincarnation,
And desire for liberation,
From all earthly evils,
Through good karma,
Is pure Hinduism !

One eternal truth,
Of divine supreme,
And many forms in nature,
Freedom of ideas,
Is a way of life !

Four Vedas and Upanishads,
Logical and scientific,
The holy Bhagwad Gita,
Turns the belief firm !

Live and let live,
Honour for all others,
Ancient of all religions,
Is generator of the many!

Incineration of Love God Madan Cupid 01 of Many

Incineration of Love God Madan ( Cupid )
One of Many
Originally written in Hindi by my late father Dr. Amar Nath Kapoor
1899 to 1994

English version by Ravindra K Kapoor.

Prelude to this epic.
According to Indian mythology Madan the Love God or Cupid was asked to divert the attention of Lord Shiva*, the supreme God of Hindus, who was lost in deep meditation, so that Lord Shiva may be requested to help the Gods from the attacks of the demon supreme immortal Tarakasur. However, when Madan disturbed Him in meditation Shiva became too furious and opened His third eye. Madan the Cupid God got burnt by the fire of the anger of his third eye. This epic reveals many interesting incidents about this story later in this series…..

Hindi Name: Madan Dahan

Ages before in Satyug* or the Golden Age,
When Cupid was wandering in human form,
And humans were living on Earth,
Without passion and were even free from lust.

He kept man and woman all,
Intoxicated with the wine of love, and
Blended with the beauty and loveliness,
He was prevailing in every innocent heart.

He was dwelling as the charm of everyone,
In the tender heart of a woman,
And in the attractions of a youthful body,
Was wandering even, in the courtyards of Gods.

Clarifications:
*Yug or Yuga
Yuga in Hinduism, is the "Yuga (Age or Era) of Truth", when mankind is governed by gods, and every manifestation or work is close to the purest ideal.
* The cycle Yugas (Ages) in Indian mythology
The yugas are said to succeed each other almost endlessly. After the perfect Satya Yuga, a decline marks the Treta Yuga. Further decline brings about the Dwapara Yuga, and after it comes the final and dark Kali Yuga, a time of wickedness, when man kills another man. At the end of the cycle a Divine Being is said to take birth and reestablish righteousness, thus beginning a new Satya Yuga.

(Hindi Name) Madan Dahan

Passion had not attained,
Control over human life,
Serene Love then prevailing,
Was the ideal worship.

Gold had not blackened,
Mind and heart of humans,
Service of all was then,
Lives most glorious action.

Work of Brahma* the creator,
Was at the verge of completion,
Vishnu* the preserver of Universe,
Had created livelihoods for all.

Clarifications:
*Brahma-	According to the Puranas, Brahma is self-born in the lotus flower. Another legend says that Brahma was born in water. A seed that later became the golden egg. From this golden egg.. The remaining materials of this golden egg expanded into the Brahman?a or Universe.

* Vishnu -Vishnu is the supreme God of Hinduism. It describes Vishnu as the All-Pervading essence of all beings, the master of—and beyond—the past, present and future, one who supports, sustains and governs the Universe and originates and develops all elements within. Vishnu governs the aspect of preservation and sustenance of the universe, so he is called "Preserver of the universe".

Premium Member Saraswati's Song

Each morning when I rise before dawn
Before I open closed eyes I may see
The essence of my soul’s *etheric body
That dwells deeply inside of me.

As I look at my face in the mirror,
Or is my face really looking at me?
I see a strange looking lady there
In hopeful longing to be set free.

Saraswati please play your sweet music
On your veena now called mandolin. . .
Please enlighten all of my senses
To discern I’ve been reborn again.

I defer to your wisdom dear Goddess
In knowing of my earthborn plight.
My *karma like an opaque veil is lifted
As your song within my heart takes flight.

This poem is about the realization of my purpose here.

Note: *Saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of music, arts, and wisdom
Saraswati actually plays the kacchapi which is an ancient Hindu musical instrument
more recently known as a veena which most resembles a mandolin.

*Etheric body:
The etheric body is but one of many bodies of man, reflecting, in miniature, the
seven planes of the universe. The etheric has been described as a network of fine
energy strands permeated with fire, or as a web animated with golden light. It is the
golden bowl. These informative extracts are taken from the writings of the Tibetan
Master via the books of Alice A. Bailey

*Karma: (Hinduism and Buddhism) the effects of a person's actions that determine
his destiny in his next incarnation

Manu and the Fish

Manu strolled to his stainless sink
To wash his hands and have a think.

He reached for soap, a bar was handy,
A square pink cake that looked like candy.
He ran the water, fresh and cool,
And in his hands, it formed a pool.

Then, out of the water, to his surprise,
a tiny fish with bulging eyes
Appeared to Manu and woefully cried--

“Please, kind sir, don’t wash me away!
I have important words to say.
If you will raise me, then one day,
I’ll save your life, please let me stay!”

Manu responded, “Little Fish,
How shall I raise you? Grant your wish?
Shall I place you in a dish?
Your little home in which to swish?”

Fish answered, “In a jar for sure.
Until I grow and well mature.
Then in a pond you shall put me
Until I’m ready for the sea.

To keep his fish friend safe, Manu
Installed an inground swimming pool.
His neighbors laughed and mocked and drooled,
Said, “Evil fish has found His fool!”

And Manu said, “Don’t laugh, but pray!
A Flood is coming, Fish does say,
And Humanity will be swept away!
This fish will save my life one day!”

In time, when Fish was fully grown,
The largest fish mankind had known,
Manu and Fish to seashore went.
Humanity’s time was almost spent.

Now build a ship, Fish told his friend,
And it will save you in the End.
Then tie the ship to me, and I
Will take you to a mountain high.

And when the rainclouds did unleash,
That massive flood killed man and beast.
But Manu and The Fish survived.
And on the mountain top arrived.

And just as Fish had always said,
Humanity was now quite dead.
Overcome by the raging flood,
The world was cleansed of all bad blood.

But Manu on the mount was safe,
Against Fish’s wishes he never chafed.

And as the waters did recede,
The Fish told Manu he must leave.
His job was done, Manu was spared
Because for Fish’s life he cared.

And then Manu, now all alone,
Began descent to his new home.
