Premium Member AI 'Winners'

open a blind eye ~ and see you're being duped by those using AI

sniff out those taking credit for cheating ~ real poets they're defeating

a concept I can't accept ~ from people whose poetry is inept

sometimes it's really difficult to prove ~ but an issue to behoove

call them out if it matters ~ don't serve them trophies on silver platters

if you couldn't care less ~ it's no wonder poetry soup is a mess

disheartening to say the least ~ is it possible to slay the beast

it's happening, there's no doubt ~ they're being given far too much clout

this message may be falling on deaf ears ~ if so, then I give up... cheers!

Premium Member Wise Words To Ponder

just going to church every week ~ does not make you a better Christian

be grateful for everything that you have ~ because many have nothing

love and respect are not something that you can buy ~you have to earn them

our world leaders and politicians ~ do not bear the scars of battle

your clock of life is ticking and does not stop ~ do not waste a second

surely it is not the end of the world ~ if your team loses a game

always accept a gift ~ don't hurt someone's feelings by refusing it

the reward for kindness is the joy you bring ~ to someone else's heart

it is inevitable that you will grow old but think young ~ stay young

the only true winners in wartime ~are the arms manufacturers

machines make life easier ~ but cannot function without your input

(a monoku in non-traditional format)

Poet’s note: this poem is dedicated to my beloved father, Albert, who will be 94 years old on April 27, 2021. Though he deals with a myriad of age-related health issues, it hasn’t tarnished his golden essence. His mortal heart and mind may be aged but his loving spirit is ageless.

Updated note: my dad, Albert, a.k.a. pépé (French Canadian for grandpa), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 10, 2021. He will forever be loved and missed by those of us he left behind.

Hope

You see hope when two kids share marbles between a volatile border.

Love knows no separation
                     not in measured distance
                               nor in death...

Premium Member Woody Wouldn'T Cheat, Would He

Toy Story characters argued ~ then Jessie told Woody to buzz off

he'd been caught flirting with Bo Peep ~ uh oh, Woody, you're in trouble deep

Jessie said she was leaving ~ couldn't get over Woody's deceiving

oh what a terrible end for the two ~ makes me want to cry, boo hoo

can Woody end his cheating ways ~ Jessie doesn't trust his word these days

he knocked on Jessie's door ~ but she said not to come around anymore

Woody tried to confess ~ Jess wasn't going to fall for his BS

Jessie slammed the door in his face ~ now Woody lives in total disgrace

Buzz and Jess are dating ~ Woody's in need of rehabilitating

Premium Member Reverie of Roses

when last rays of autumn - tip toe along to sunset streaked reveries

listen to the crisp breeze of fallen fairies - truth floats through tawny tunes

whilst crickets chirp - lulling grieving trees - silhouette of sky bursts in gold

a crumpled haven of seraphic swings - whistling wind-swept dreams of brown

as twilight bleeds merlot red runes - shifting shades of coral pink clouds weep

flurry flakes curve - amidst a deep labyrinth of chamomile silence

butterflies rest upon rain rinsed roses - exhaling brisk balmy blues

timeless tales of forgotten tulips - yet between dusk and dawn faith thrives

and frost-kissed hope - swiftly turns a new leaf - feathered with crystal belief

but - if to love your moon is madness - let stars fade into cosmic dust

Premium Member Not Worth the Hate

maybe someday this heart will no longer hurt for the innocent souls

as every child's turquoise dream turns into a sea of bleeding bullets

every mother's fruitful orchard wilts into a field of broken bones

but are we too blind - reluctant to see the truth beyond skin and name

walking through a fog of ignorance - dressed as egoistic preachers

bringing shame to the oath of a warrior - weaving poetic lies

what has become of life - does peace come with an unattainable price

maybe someday the weight of these words will weigh heavier than hatred

and the moon shall rise and sprinkle glistening pearls upon eclipsed spheres….

for now, a world without war, I shall weave in seraphic syllables
