Thought I better get round to writing a bit about myself.

I'm married and live on the Isle of Man

My poetry journey began in November 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The first poem I wrote was called was Splendid Isolation. This was written after we returned to the Isle of Man after his surgery in England. I felt so alone and vulnerable in the accommodation - all I really needed was someone to talk to face to face and maybe have a hug! I posted a few poems on a friends facebook page - mainly humerous poems . An on-line friend Jenny Brewer saw my poems and kept telling me to join here. It took about 3 weeks of her asking me if i had joined to pluck up the courage to finally post and 'Just Desserts' was the first poem I posted here - it is based on a true experience! Since then my life has been a whirl. In Jared Pickett's collaboration I teamed up with Darren Watson and we wrote together collaboratively as JaDazzle United.

I adore penguins - the animals not the biscuits!
Loveeeee tall men with greying hair
I love baking/cooking
I like to potter in the garden - need more time to commit to it but have an aged mother who needs me more than my garden does
Adore most types of music - will give anything a listen
Best ever gig - Knebworth 1986 when 'Queen' headlined

I am delighted that soup admin have amended the formatting of the new poems page which has resulted in a much wider area for the title of the poem. This simple change has proved once and for all that it was NOT the poets posting ten poems a day that caused the poems of poems disappearing quickly off the screen. It was the screen formatting itself which was the issue and now poems are only on two lines of the new poems page rather than up to six lines

Now it is clear that it was a red herring that it was the posting of multiple poems that was the problem.I hope that common sense prevails and the posting of ten poems a day will be reinistated instead of the recent change of five a day

Let's embrace creativty and shy away from negativity and not deter poets from posting multiple poems on the poetry site

The extra space for titles was a great idea and so is the use of shorter ones. An entire sentence is a bit much. Shakespeare kept them short, which brings to mind my thoughts on making the change, ‘As you like it. ‘ I think those who posted 10 a day had that right and doing so wouldn’t give anyone cause for complaint now. I don’t see why it did prior to the change.

Jan and TPS, great, wonderful, now how will it be enforced? what are the consequences for going over 5 poems a day ? Great to say 5 poems a day but it has to go further than that. I hate long titles that is why I insist on titles no more than 5 words or less in my contests. No need for a title 10 miles long ! Gosh, that is just wierd, I will not even bother to read such a poem ...

Thanks Constance, I am hoping now that the page has been re formatted and the title area is 'wider' so that longer titles do not run to up to 6 lines that there is no reason for 10 a day not to be reinstated as it was not the posting of these that was causing the poems to disappear off the screen but the formatting of the new poems page. There are many reasons why people post ten a day, for some its a back catalogue, for others its cos they are so creative and for some it is to leave a legacy of their work for their loved ones and who can deny them this now the fault has been addressed by admin! hugs jan xx

I could understand the issue of being against multiple postings if hundred of poets were against it, but the fact only a very small minority out of 40,000 voiced concern so its hardly evidence and I have now proved it was the formatting on the page and not multiple postings so I am hoping admin will change it back to ten a day - I cannot see any reason not to! I always remember you were 'advised' post just one or 2 poems a week. which is crazy when you have work over several decades and wish to share it. my poetry on here is like a diary in many ways of good times and bad but i do try and make folk smile with my silly stuff:-) hugs jan xx
