Notes About The Poem

Nine beautiful lines (with a twist) contest Sponsored by Constance La France, 4/4/25

Will you marry me

Sue's
surprise
birthday treat.
A romantic
picnic on the beach
with roses and champagne.
Bill kneels down, and proposes
then produces a diamond ring
Will she marry him ... what do you think?

Jan, the poem is so well constructed, I am sure she would say yes. Yet I love that you leave it up to us....that gives readers a chance to think about our own experiences and think about the circumstances. Great poem and poetic technique!!! Smiles!

Very clever. I'm sure no other entry will be anything like this, but then no other poet is like you. A joy to read ... CayCay

I don't know. Does she love him? To be continued? lol Jan. I'm just kidding you. You've entered a different take on nine lines but different can be refreshingly good.

I discovered i could do a reverse nonet so it worked well with the last line being 9 syllables. I hope Constance likes it - its rare for me to write romantic lines lol. got some penguin humour i will post later xx
