I am saddened beyond words that a decision has been made to reduce the number of poems a poet can post from ten a day to five a day.and it has been based on a blog which wasnt well commented because of the apathy of people on the site. Neither has there been  any formal  information about this change , it has just appeared as a fait accomplis

The issue is NOT with the people who regulalrly post ten poems a day , it is acutally because some poets use extremely long titles and can post up to seven categories,  which i have done on this poem, Also, by using capitals for the title it lengthens the title even more than ones with the usual font.

UPDATE

Since i posted this I see that  the format has changed on the new poems site which has reduced the number of lines a poem takes up and only 4 of my 7 categories are showing so perhaps there has been some progress on the matter and i hope the allowance of 10 poems a day will be reinstated

I have posted a blog on this subject and would welcome comments

I have just discovered the real definition of irony The word Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia What a lengthy word to describe the fear of long words - how ironic!

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your wisdom through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Thanks Jim, it was actually a question from when i took part in an on line quiz last year lol - oh the irony indeed a bit like dyslexia being a difficult word to spell:-) hugs Jan xx

Loved it Jan it's almost as bad as Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis which is otherwise known as P45 for short lol Congratulations on POTW. Writing shouldn't be restricted, for those who love to write, people paid their membership money in good faith based on the terms and conditions as outlined. Will these people receive a partial refund? Congrats again. Danny

You totally understand where i am coming from Danny! If poets feel the need to write especially for mental health reasons and post ten poems they shouldnt be restricted and I have proved it was because of the line length which has now been altered so it wasnt because of the 10 a day, that was a red herring. I agree about getting money refunded - 50% to match the reduction from 10 to 5 - people are still posting 10 anyway so the 'covert' change has on the whole, been ignored. hugs Jan xx

thanks James, I am beyond saddened why a decision was made (covertly) based on the whim of a very small minority of people some who arent even active on the site - it is a poetry site after all lol:-) hugs Jan

Hi Jan, I had to look up Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia to see if it was a word. Now that I know it is, I'd like to know who on earth thought of such a nonsensical word.

The blogs are still there as is they hypocrisy of apparently wanting to encourage poets to write but the end game is to have only one poem per person per day - I thought it was a poetry site but hey ho who am I but a poop poet lol:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks John sadly even though I have proved its the line length of titles I am still getting nasty jibes on the blog but who cares as no one is enforcing the ten a day I mean 5 a day 'limit' so its all smoke and mirrors at the end of the day:-) hugs Jan xx
Date: 10/13/2024 12:25:00 PM
Congratulations, Jan! I wouldn’t have known about your honor had other comments not mentioned it, but I like the poem very much regardless of whether or not it received that recognition…

Thanks so much Ilene, I was making a point of posting a poem with a VERY long title but admin have amended the screen width so long titles no longer take up to 6 lines of space:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Tom I hope common sense will now prevail and the 10 a day will be reinstated, after all it was based on the whim of a very small minority some of whom hardly are active on the site. i could appreciate the change if hundreds had commented or admin had messaged asking poets opinions but not with the current state of play:-( hugs jan xx

Thanks Tania and yet the debate about multiple posting lingers on! i feel I am totally vindicated for speaking out about the real reason the poems are disappearing off the site and hopefully common sense will prevail and the ten a day allowance will be reinstated
Date: 10/13/2024 5:28:00 AM
Point made and hopefully it will be a point taken by those to whom this applies... those with phobias of one kind or another. POTW, no fear of having them added to a poem. Congratulations, chick.

OMG Daniel I didnt have a clue, i looked this morning and it was still Lin's poem so it is a shock to see i got POTW!. I am SO pleased the formatting has been changed by admin so poems with a longer line length do not take u to 6 lines as was previously the case and it TOTALLY vindicates the poets who posted ten a day who were blamed for the reason why our one poem was vanishing off the screen so quickly/ I hope admin will now re-instate the ten a day allowance (which was done without any notice to the soup members) and poets are free to unleash their creativity.!):-) hugs jan xx
