5x5x3 Poetry Contest. Sponsored by Miranda Hawley 4/20/25

The summer holidays are here! Time to relax and unwind. Let's head for the beach, build sandcastles, ride on donkeys and paddle in the sea. The golden sun is shining - No clouds are in sight. We apply coconut scented lotion then lay on beach towels taking care not to burn! We unpack our picnic hamper onto a huge tartan rug. There’s lots of delicious treats food gets eaten very quickly - we’re wary of pesky seagulls!

I can't wait for summer, or rather time in the swimming pool, time at the park, etc. Congratulations on your win in my contest. Yes, I know it took forever to judge/comment on this contest and I am sorry.

Seagulls are major pests in Newfoundland too! Congrats, Jan. A fun read. Take care.

Sounds like fun. As a donkey afficionado, it enjoyed hearing that he got a day at the beach too. I enjoy the style of your poem.

Jan, sounds familiar. Those pesky birds. At least it sounds like a good time. With the photos and words, it makes me think I'm there too. Take care and smiles!!

Since my wife's death, I did not go anymore to enjoy the sea. Now I don't even have a car. Pity. There are beautiful if small beaches in Malta.

there are signs here around food outlets saying do not feed the seagulls but the gulls cant read and swoop down - it can be very distressing

Can't wait for those long summer days Jan, always used to play that going on holiday with the kids. Hope you've had a lovely Easter. Weather been dry and warm too but it's clouding over now. Tom
