Stollen

Sold mainly at Christmas
Similar to fruit cake.
Spiced with ground cinnamon
Studded with candied peel
Sultanas, nuts, raisins
Soft marzipan centre.
Save a big slice for me!

"Stollen" is a delightful little piece. What you've done here is taken a simple subject—a type of bread—and transformed it into something evocative and almost playful. I am not a fruit cake fan but this is more of a bread like cake made with yeast and its very delicious, i had 2 mini stollen today at our friend's church after a Christmas carol concert:-) hugs Jan xx
