The Black Swan


The silent swan glides  
Her plumage falls softly in  
The ripples of tossed coins  

Far from the fountain's edge  
Where lost promises linger  
In the fading dusk of night  

Unnoticed, she takes flight  
Leaving behind a trail of  
Black feathers drifting on  
The tranquil water's flow  

Her departure, a whispered  
Goodbye in the still air,Where
 fond affection once blossomed ,
amidst the fragrance of yellow lilies
 and forgotten dreams  

Her reflection, a final  
Farewell in quiet memory,  
As she fades away, unseen.

Forever Unseen.

There's a joy and sadness to life, and you capture it with such poetic elegance. This poem lets us all know that we should make the most of the time we have...something important that all of us need to remember. BTW, I really appreciate that you commented on my work. I always feel a bit funny when reading a poem like this because I wonder what feelings inspired it. I hope you are well indeed and thanks for making me smile.
