Notes About The Poem

FICTIONAL POEM FOR Refrains in 8 Poetry Contest sponsored by Joseph May 03/16/25

Betrayal

On my pillow I found blonde hair You admit you’d had an affair I’m heartbroken, how long I cried I can’t believe how much you’ve lied Those days you were ‘working away’ I know you were with your P.A Posh meals for two can’t be denied I can’t believe how much you’ve lied Wedding vows meant nothing to you Pack your bags, because we are through Your lover can stand by your side I can’t believe how much you’ve lied Our marriage has now run its course I’m actively seeking divorce Your adultery I won’t hide I can’t believe how much you’ve lied

I know this is fictional, Jan, but I know deep in my being how this can crucify a person. “It was only sex” is the excuse of one who neither loves nor respects their ‘other’. Congrats on a worthy win. Terry

Jan this hits home for many people who dealt with infidelity in a cheating spouse. You touch on a raw tender subject very well! Congratulations on your win!

What a self- gratifying dog. And in your own bed. Question, do you keep that bed, or throw it out. Good luck with the contest. I didn't listen to God.

i would kick him out and burn the bed lol:-) we married in a registry office i dont recall specific vows - am not religious see too much hypocrisy - like Moors Murderer Myra Hindley turning to catholicism in prison and her sins (the murder of about 4 children with her partner ian brady) were absolved ... dont get me started lol. hugs jan xx

Hey maybe it was the blonde hairs from a judge’s wig you found on your pillow, make sure you do a bit more research before you go to divorce court lol! I say in jest! Yeah life is full of lies truth be told Jan, even the judiciary system gets shown up from time to time, glad this is fiction, cheers David

we have a friend who does a sunday night show - she is the station's religious correspondent, a cannon in the church - she plays glen miller type music, easy listening. she was off one Sunday - the guy who stood in played 'patricia the stripper' i was creased up - she had a wry smile when we told her !

Jan, although this is fiction, you're providing a good example of how we should deal with infidelity. I love the peaceful manner you use the abbreviation P.A. In any case, it's fun to read this first from the view of a man as well as a woman. Equal opportunity. Smiles and thanks for one key to a long lasting relationship if one desires it.

Dear Jan, I know this is a fictional work but I can feel the weight of the words you’ve written, the deep pain and betrayal that you’ve expressed so honestly. I think the ability to share rawness of your emotions is undeniable, and I know it takes the strength of a poet to put those feelings down on paper. When trust is shattered, it’s like the ground beneath us disappears. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Thanks Daniel, I was stuck in a quandary many years ago - my hubbies friends wife was having an affair with a guy i worked with -I was threatened with losing my job if i told they guy - i did tell my hubby though. when the news finally broke my hubbies pal went bananas at me but there were many others who knew and it wasn't mine or my hubbies place to tell. such is life eh. hugs jan xx

Well I hope this is fiction. It is well written and the situation is so common. Sandra, my daughter, says that on parents day, she meets more divorced people that others.

It's pure fiction for me Victor - we have had the pleasure of meeting you and your lovely Liliane too and have such lovely memories of our holidays in Malta - we wont be visiting this year as we have other holidays planned in the Uk and Madeira:-) hugs Jan xx

She's better off without him, lies in a relationship spells doom, once the trust is gone it's game over. Tom

Jan, Ooph! Betrayal, and aptly named in this poem. Described well and with fine detail the havoc and pain that lies and deception bring. Though wondered on the meaning of 'P.A' in this write(?) -Richard
