Not Forgiven

Not Forgiven

Sometimes, when I’m all alone
and I know the world can’t see.
I peer into the shadows
living deep inside of me.

Consider ways of yesterdays
and lessons that I learned.
Smoke stained walls and darkened halls from bridges that I burned.

Pictures hanging here and there
of those I learned to Love.
Hoping that they’re doing well,
when push comes down to shove.

Remnants laying on the floor,
it’s someone’s broken heart.
I can’t deny so I won’t try
I know I played my part.

Scars remain somewhere somehow
from things not meant to be.
I’ve forgiven all but one.
I’ve not forgiven me.

So I go where you don’t know,
a place the world can’t see.
I peer into the shadows
and I never will be free.

This is well expressed Edwin. I am moved by your words and the part that points to my own inner shadows.
