Scamming/fraud - Heidi Sands's Blog

I am a freelance writer and artist living in New England. I have articles published in Woman's Own Magazine, Parentguide News, Our Journey, Franklin Publishing, London Press, and newspapers. I have poetry published in Womankind Anthology and Our Journey. I have five poetry books published at Amazon. A series of three Nature Poetry Books titled, One With Nature in New Hampshire, Dreams With Nature and A Walk Through Nature With Heidi Sands. Another poetry book titled, Hope - with positive inspirational affirmations and a love poetry book titled, Angelic Butterfly filled with 100 Love Poems. All these are available in paperback. Some available on kindle.

Scamming/fraud

Hi. Has anyone had scamming, fraud or odd things happen with their writing on the internet?. I have suddenly had a lot going on. A poem I wrote here recently titled spinning wheel is listed under someone elses book they wrote about spinning wheel poems. It is not a sister site, to soup and I have turned off that feature. Another site about Terzanelle poems, lists me below it for writing a terzanelle poem (as I do here) and yet when you ooen it, it has some rambling about poetry and terzanelles, *with an inappropriate photo underneath it. In addition to that, 3 places have listed 2 of my books on amazon for double the cost without copies or my permission. One selling at Ebay and the other 2 directly Needless to say this is a nightmare of red tape issues to straighten out that are growing by the day. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this. How would I go about checking out if any of my poems or lyrics are being used by someone else? I am an unpublished writer.

Hi Kale. If you try googling your name, simply like this: Kale Brereton Poet....then you should come up for being at soup. If you go through further pages, you will see if any of your material is elsewhere. There are 3 sister sites they have that your poems can show on, if you don't have the feature turned off. However, that's it. So, if your name and poem is coming up other places, it should show.

Hi Heidi, I have found several sites offering my books for sale, however if you try to purchase one, they will say they are unavailable at this time and will try to sell you another book...I have all my books listed exclusively with Amazon under contract and only they hold the copyrights to print them...these other sites do not have access to your files at Amazon and therefor can only purchase the books from Amazon... I do not know if it is legal for them to buy your book from Amazon and then resell it...you need to let Amazon know about these sites and request that their legal department get involved, Emile.

Hi Emile. Thank you. I did contact Amazon. I went through a long process with 2 of them sold at Ebay from one place and got no-where. Then got a major amount of legal paperwork to send to Washington Amazon legal dept. to try to take it further. It is very time consuming. Then, I found 2 other places doing the same with my book at higher cost, (not through ebay), but on their own. Then, it continued with my individual poems from this site completely separate from Amazon. I appreciate your comment and feedback. I was curious if this is happening to other poets.

And that is why I write only for me....sorry you are having these problems, it seems the minute we put our poems on the internet the trolls start to feed. They can steal a few poems but they cannot steal the muse within you that created them.

It is awful...and growing fast by the day, all of a sudden. It makes me want to remove all my hard work writing from the internet. I have already worked hard at trying to resolve it, but getting no-where.

So many scams around Heidi especially with the phone, not had too many issues with my poems apart from some of them being plagerised. Sorry you are being targeted like this with your work , there are some nasty internet trolls out there:-( hugs Jan xx

Sorry this has happened to you Heidi but there's that much scamming and fraud on the internet and nobody really policing it especially if it's done in another country. One thing I'm amazed that you found out it was happening. Tom
