There was a boy
True story about a breakthrough helping a child in Human Services
There once was a boy, only wanting safety and love
He hid from the yelling, in the attic above
Abuse had sent his soul running behind walls
Outside and within him, hidden from painful falls
He lost his voice, the fear didn't let him speak
Until playing games with photos of expressions, made him peak
Trust was built in time with all kinds of activity
With days of reassurance and consistent brevity
Until one day, conversation about his fears tied to a balloon,
letting them go into the sky up to the moon
Suddenly he was full of questions and babbling with joy
He was no longer that little, silent boy
