Gaping Pain

Ghazal form poetry contest
Sponsor : Sotto poet

Placed 3rd:

The empty house is silent, I can't see
Blinded by grief, it has overcome me

Your voice is not heard, dawn to the sunset
The loss of your strength has overcome me

Tears won't bring you back, I love and I lost
Heartbreak melancholy overcomes me

I'm broken, but your memories will heal
Through gaping pain that has overcome me

Dear Heidi, The title, "Gaping pain" and the way you expressed grief in the loss of your loved one is so poignant and crushing. It tears at a reader's soul. I am so sorry.

Thank you so much. I haven't done this form of poetry much and when I did, it ended up being about this. I cannot thank you enough for the time you have taken today to read my poetry and offer such nice support. I hope all is well for you and your day is going well :)

Congratulations on your winning work. Way to go. Exception work in the fact that you had a lower syllable count. Sara K

Emotive ghazal, my friend. Sad to see a house empty--where there are so many beloved memories.
