Telling Me To Fly
Grief visits me in the dark of the night
I have lost you and you're out of sight
You are my friend, like family
Now you're gone, I just can't see
Dark, so dark, I must march through
With thanks for all my time with you
Our laughter, fun and understanding
We shared so long, was outstanding
There were others, no chance for goodbye
Now you are on the list, as I try
To keep going, feeling aftershock
To fly alone, but to feel the flock
Of birds that soar across the sky
I hear you above, telling me to fly
