Sunrise Yellow and Gold

The dawn sun rose yellow and gold,
And soft light pours in my window;
The sun is rising up so bold,
I puff up my cozy pillow.
My cat has found a patch of sun,
She is busy with her gray fur;
Get up before sunrise is done,
Although in bed I would prefer.
Twittering drifts from the birdbath,
And trees are misty and dappled;
I will walk the lush garden path,
My flowers glowing and tangled.
Sun breaks free of a swirling cloud,
Oh sweet golden sunshine streaming;
High up in the sky now so proud,
And from my bed I come creeping.
