Footsteps

The footprints in fallen snow
lead to mysterious places
wooded hills and open spaces
steps in a journey told to know

Fresh cold air awakens the mind
to all kinds of  things to be seen
Some things fallen in a ravine
Others left on cliff edges to find

A search in nature is profound
Wildlife company always there
Up high, down low, everywhere
Sky, land, plants and trees all around

To know that I'm part of it all
in a stroll taken any day
Those footsteps taken will stay
memories, for me to recall

I could still hear the songbirds, cawing crows, and the mooing of cows but could not see them. I was engulfed by nature. It was so peaceful.
