I have always liked to read poetry and I guess it lead to wanting to write poetry. I never liked to write in school and wasn't very good at it, but my work eventually required me to do quite a bit of technical writing. I worked at doing the mechanical design, "packaging" of electrical and electronic systems for the industrial and then for the aerospace industries. When word processors evolved and e-mail became the accepted method of communication in business, I actually became pretty good at putting ideas on paper. I think the ability to edit easily made writing a lot simpler and certainly more fun. When I retired 6 years ago one of the things I had hoped to do was write for pleasure. I tried short stories and political blogs but poetry became my real passion.  'Once More', 'Freedom' and 'Life' are my first poems, written over this past month (March, 2016).
