After Forever, Names on Stone

Who leaves faces remembered burned inside
With names of dead friends that come in a swarm
Always weary as they have already died
These band of brothers faced the darkest storm
Nights of forever with a fear they'd dread
Smeared by the rain with the guts and the mud
To track footprints on the backs of the dead
As death's stench flowed rapidly from warmblood
When soldiers fought in a war's hellish dream
When bullets rushed towards killing whoever
Their endless fear of time and body's scream
To find there's nothing after forever
These heroes honored are those that death claimed
Etched in marble graveyards most have been named

wow, this is incredible and so sad, Frederic. I pray they have found a better place than the hell of war they were forced to endure.

How sad, dear Frederic. War leaves scars for the living. The dead have found peace. Having lived through war, I know that psychological scars remain. Very great piece of remembrance.

Your poem brought out the sadness of war and losing a fellow soldier but there lies a question. Does death really last forever.
