Forever and Ever
This one's for you:
This is for my cat who passed away recently. He was approaching 22 years old in June.
Your hugs held me every day
Your voice, our conversations
Your howling, when you claimed your place
Your gifts when you carried stuffed toys to me
Your intelligence, behavior, not held by domestic cats
Because, you were bred by a Bengal and wild cat
Your ability to jump high places and your dominance
Your tough ways, yet so gentle with love and loyalty
To fill a home, a town, a state, a world...
You were the centerpiece of our pet family
Your special water in the fountain, always yours
Your insight, empathy, when you licked my tears away
You loved your cheese and you sat for your treats
You loved the sunshine and your blankets too
You were a hunter, an observer, but far from ordinary
There are so many stories to tell from your life
As it approached 22 years, every single moment is kept
I will never forget any of them, all of you that bonded with me
Because, you made me yours; never as close to anyone else
Now I live with those years, filled with memories forever
I will never stop missing you, I will never stop hearing you
I will love you forever and ever, just as I told you, over and over
