If it wasn't for poetry
For Contest:
Silent One
If it wasn't for poetry, I may not be breathing
Each breath, each word written, started as a child
Bringing the gift of comfort in the escape onto paper!
All in my solitude of survival through trauma...
I stepped forward, pouring out the pain, inspired by music
The melodies danced with my pen and I was free, oh so free!
I could go anywhere, feel anything, show everything
Through the years, the volumes of writing grew with me
If it wasn't for poetry, I wouldn't be all of who I am
My soul is unveiled to live this beautiful life, I am forever grateful!
Now, I continue to write with God's gift, that no-one can steal!
There have been many thieves in life, but all this is untouchable!
