John Derek JD Hamilton is a Singer/Songwriter, Lyricist, musician and poet. Living in Canada most of my life. I'm a member of SOCAN and SAC. I've been writing songs since the early 80's but got discouraged when my first lyric went missing and then was heard on top ten radio in Canada. I continued writing but for my personal enjoyment. My musical training was was in a high school band where I played trumpet and saxophone. I also took private lessons from the lead trumpet player from Tommy Dorsey's band from 1972-77. My goal was to be a professional musician, however, my goals changed. I became a Christian minister and dedicated my time to that for many years. Things changed in 2012 when I almost died from cardiac arrest. After time recovering I decided to start documenting my songs on poetrysoup so there would be a public record of my writing.I've had some songs professionally recorded, but lately my songs have been recorded with professionally paid AI musicians and singers.
