Beauty

The basis of all beauty is hope,
          It gives no cause to sadness...
     
     The sight of beauty will never age the eye,
          Its only reflection is from the face of others...

     The Grace of beauty bathes the soul with purity,
          It never exists until petitioned by an open heart...

     Beauty gives life to poetry,
          We are as beautiful as we choose to be...

Maurice Rigoler January 9, 2017 at 3:34 PM I've wrestled with this subject many times, trying to define what beauty is, and each time I've come up with nothing substanticl or verifiable. I believe there is no definition for it by which all of us can be agreed. Neither is it formulaic. It simply is what it is, according to each who beholds it, like the cliched "in the eye (or head) of the beholder. Still your poem has much merit. The older I become the more beauty presents it's hope for me to consort with when I decide to open my heart and receive it. It's scope is so more broadly defined for me now.
