New to poetrysoup Hello All!

My name is Ranjit Iyer. I live in Chennai, India (although I used to live in southern California, USA). I am new to this forum.

I have always considered myself to be an aspiring poet, but I haven't written that much lately. I am trying to get my poetry noticed, *critiqued*, and published. Can anyone help me with this process (websites, forums, social media, books/magazines, etc.)? I would certainly appreciate any advice you could offer.

Thanks again!

Critiqued and Noticed Hi all!

If I want to get my poetry *seriously* critiqued and noticed, what should I do? Can I do that right here on poetrysoup (where do I post?) or do I also need to visit other websites, social media, books/magazines, etc.?

Thanks!

Please give me *serious* critique Beauty Poem 1

What cherubim or spirits shall entreat
To preach the litany of thy beauty?
If rhyme and meter be the judge,
Then let my odes of bygone years
Fill dunes of sweet romanticism
With the stink of pusillanimity and nonsense.
Shall the minstrel regale thee in coquettish glee,
When springtime comes? What are his lyrics and songs
To describe the rapture of the gentle looks
That I long to hear alone.
Will spiteful maidens sob in the arms of their lovers
As you busily pass on the corner road?
What to speak of such frivolous indiscretion?
Only beauty without appellation will know.

Actually, I more than like your non-rhyming sonnet. Trying to understand the meaning here (had to look up the bigly words, pusillanimity and appellation). Are you saying the narrator was cavalier and lacking in the courage necessary to pursue his secret love?

Thanks for the comment! I thought I should have been more specific about the poem's theme, myself. I basically wanted to discuss the idea of "beauty without description."
