Coming the thirty-first,
Costumed kids seeking sweets~~
Chiclets, Snickers, Starbursts,
Chick-O-Stick, and such treats.
Cautious parents take their
Charming little ones to
Caring neighbors they trust.
ZOMBIES
Zodiac Babylon.
Zombies resurrected.
Ziggurat, stiff like stone.
Zigzag, shuffle, shamble.
Zipless undead flesh wraiths.
Zestless, yet voracious.
Zeroed in on my brain!

Candy corns coming soon
Circus peanuts, full moon
Candy necklaces for Jane
Caramel cubes again?
Chunkys, one's not enough
Candy cigarettes, puff
Crap - what Mom calls that stuff
"Wicked witch reeks havoc.
Wanders across the sky.
Watching for prey to scare.
Westward wind blows cold air.
Whimpering children run.
What a terrible fright,
With Halloween tonight." The Poet
Weird happenings tonight.
Witches all take to flight.
Want to give kids a fright.
Will tricks be their delight?
Whisking children away.
What treats will come their way,
While Halloween's today ?
Ghosts here and there going
Greedy through the candy~
Going to catch them, yes!,
Going to scare them, yes!
Gone back into dark night,
Gone 'til next Hallow's Eve~
Goobers* half-price after!
*chocolate covered peanuts
WITCHES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whispers coil in chimney smoke,
Waning moon's thin silver cloak,
Weeds cling to graveyard stone,
Withered hands on bony knuckles,
Warty bumps and elongated nose,
Wax drips from candles slow on their alters, black.
Woven spells on midnight's breath—
Galactic blood red sky
Gathers for Halloween
Goulish grotesque, zombies
Gross witches and black cats
Goblins, plus gruesome ghosts
Ghastly, grim, while groaning
Guarantees goosebumps.
Living every moment
Listening to nature
Laughing when feeling joy
Learning a life lesson
Lifting up the weary
Limiting our mistakes
Loving our Creator
Being more open to others’ ideas
Being helpful when I encounter the helpless
Being loving when I see those that seem unlovable
Being slow to anger when I feel I’m being attacked
Being understanding when others make mistakes
Being non-judgmental when people are different from me
Being thankful for all that comes into my life
touch of a friend when ill
thoughts of past adventures
tender moments of love
trusting beyond knowing
times my compassion won
two lives becoming one
triumph through tragedy
Looking for love may not succeed
Learning to love may help indeed
Letting love flow, may be the seed
Lift another by doing a loving deed
Love others first, take the lead
Lady or gent, please do not plead
Lasting love is drawn to a need
Stars in the night I see
Scenery so sightly
Some are twinkling brightly
Small ones showing lightly
Staring at them nightly
Structure holds some tightly
Softly they delight me
Junco
Just another bird you say
Juxtaposed to other birds unfair
Jettison your prejudices
Join with other ornithologists
Judging the Junco on its own merits
Jubilantly this little bird thrives
Joyfulness in its tiny song
Ecstatic
each waking hour my
every thought is of you
even if I don’t always
express them, they are part of me. I hope that doesn’t
embarrass you and I trust you find this
encouraging. You are my
enchantress.
Pivot
Perhaps we can
Prevent committing
Perjury if we can
Pivot away from
Prevarication long enough to
Posit the truth when
Presenting ourselves at traffic court
