Life is a series of tests
armies of unwelcome guests
wave after wave of insect pests ~
From them a crown you must wrest
With everyone you ever meet
With every step of your two feet
Every time that you compete
If you want your life to be complete
Remember these words forever sweet
‘Respect’ is ever a two-way street
allergies make me cough, wheeze, hack and sneeze
I’d like to not be allergic, if you please
but God had other ideas, and so I sneeze and wheeze
Unsure why some of us have these terrible allergies.
we were supposed to sing the song as a duet, Pa and me
he is a rooster, which means cocky and ornery as can be
I did my best on this song, starting out on the low C key
Pa sang it double time as if we were flying to Kentucky
I got louder, my way of getting back at this pompous he
Pa got louder, stunning radio people in WH3
My mother had seen this as she watched our eggs three
You two need a vacation she said, get on to Tennessee
Why that state? Asked Pa, who was irritated with me
Isn’t that your home state? answered my mother to he
Kentucky, he said. Let’s go, he added, nodding to me.
we came home with a basket full, egg count twenty-three.
fourth of July T-rex was carrying fireworks for the park
They would all be lit in a specific order after it got dark
People were seated on blankets, whispering about this lark.
Luckily, they did not see T-rex, as the park was so dark.
window picking from the pane
a lock of rain
her body starts with its refrain
the little girl's face
everyone wears her masquerade
dark dripping gaze
that glass drains
she's mine to chafe
window picking from the pane
her tender shape
she cracks from the sky's frame
as if a fall could be sustained.
highland bull came to us on a lovely spring day
we could tell by his high kicks he was ready to play
a pink butterfly with plethora of dots futtered his way
He was not shy in giving her a “hey, hey, hey, hey!”
Wondered if he had wandered from the Meadows in Bray
Had no idea how to get him back there that day
A full schedule meant he would have to stay and play
We did give him feed, and a soft pace to lay
The pallet we made him was filled with the softest hay
Not his fault he is lost, said my cousin Lucie McKay
When we returned from work, he had meandered away
We were thrilled we had a Highland Bull for almost a day
At God's judgment, will we stand tall, free of defect?
If we could, would it be just the aftereffect
of a life lived for self, with pride’s introspect?
What did God ordain with the word, resurrect?
There comes to the soul, a day when we're subject -
to guilt as a sinner, immoral, suspect.
We can put the blame on evil’s misdirect
but our faults we must own in circumspect
bond with the God-head, we no longer reject.
My friend, at the reckoning in Christian prospect,
we'll all fall on our faces in awe and respect
for the Savior, Christ our Lord, grand Architect
who can redeem, empower, thereby perfect
stark lives that once faced death's dark disconnect.
What did God ordain with the word - resurrect?
Change, redirection from the dead, in effect.
When Jesus’ forgiveness for sin we accept
we bow the knee in service and genuflect,
rising to glorious grace as God’s chosen elect.
I could sit and veg in this chair all day
there are other tasks, there’s another way
living room is darkened and so I stay
I’m getting older, turning soft and gray
I’d never have done this back in the day
used to dance all day with a hey hey hey!
I would have never sat, or prone lay
Yet now here I sit, feeling okay
True highbrows can't hear commoner's pleas
Stuck sitting on their swanky settees
Status fades as affluence recedes
I'd prefer pink orchids if you please
Elitists applaud wealthy reprise
Fake posers deceive masses with ease
Think that they deserve all that they seize
So send purple orchids if you please
Fools imagine themselves on marquees
Those who would toss it all to the breeze
Who can't see the forest for the trees
Bring me more red red orchids if you please
Cultures erode when no one agrees
Innocence shrinks slowly by degrees
Fairness appears a tawdry tease
I sigh for white orchids if you please
Feel for the needy brought to their knees
My selfish world of ten thousand mes
Flowers fail as empty pleasantries
Making these moments mere niceties
I hear Inuits
who are into wit ~
they intuit

curly sue was enjoying lovely daisies and holly hocks too
she was soon surrounded by flowers of pink, red and blue
a picture was taken and published in a newspaper by Lu
a woman distantly related to the adorable young curly sue
Older witches use buckets along with their broom
It’s the best way for them to safely dive, glide and zoom
They sometimes come in the window and fly around the room
sometimes hitting people in the head with their wayward broom
I am nearly asleep in my chair
my simple life is honest and bare
I do not have a worry or care
borrow no money and take no dare
If you want to join me, pull up a chair
please enjoy with me the sweet country air
life seems incredibly accurate and fair
as you fall asleep in your own comfy chair
