My biography will be very limited for now.   Here , I can express myself in poetic form but in real life I much rather prefer to be far less forward  I am a 60 year old American citizen , born and raised in the glorious South! A heritage that I am very proud of and thank God for as it is a blessing indeed ~

Currently married to my beautiful young wife(Riza) a lovely filipina  lady and we have a fantastic 7 year old son, Justin ~

I have truly lived a very wild life as a younger man but now find myself finally very happily settled down for the duration of my life~

I decided to rest here and express myself with hopes that it may in some way help others, for I see here a very diverse  and fine gathering of poets, artists, and caring folks~

Quickly finding friends here that amaze me with such great talent~~

I invite any and all to comment on my writes and send me soup mail to discuss

whatever seems important to them ~

Decided to post an example of my new and restrictive poetry form, with hopes that some here may enjoy writing in this very restrictive challenging form. One poet has already presented a beautifully composed poem using this form..

Give it a try and perhaps the challenge will be inspiring and quite rewarding as well.

With Enchanting Winds, Her Pledged Guarding Hosts

In yonder land a princess lives,

With gentle winds her guarding hosts;

Suitors gaze as her beauty gives

Her sweet elegance, all the toasts!

Yon dark castle Dread lays in wait,

His black anger, hating her charms;

Vows he, her enslavement tis Fate

Tho' it be by force of arms!

For her kind heart he wants to bleed;

Savage her and sate his evil,

Yet Fate, grants mercy to her need

Destroys this monster primeval!

In yonder land a princess lives,

With gentle winds her guarding hosts;

Suitors gaze as her beauty gives

Her sweet elegance, all the toasts!

Hey Robert, looks good - definitely challenging with the 100 word requirement. Your rhyme scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF ABAB. You said not necessary to repeat a stanza, so I'm guessing that ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH would be okay, for rhyme scheme? If not - if it did have to be ABAB at the end, would be a little more challenging yet. (Might be a good thing? You're the boss.) When we get to "tail rhyme" - I'm at least temporarily lost. I'll break up my reply here, for clarity. I see different uses and meanings for tail rhyme.

Cool, Robert - thank you for the explanation. I agree that "some leeway" is good, to allow the content to best reflect the writer's intent, but at the same time I appreciate the true "crafting" of a poem to stricter guidelines, though that at times seems less-than-romantic.

Thank you my friend. I should have explained better than just posting, tail rhyme. My version of tail-rhyme is end rhyme only(my intent in the specifics of the form). I have always been one to go my own way and not truly, slavishly conform to poetry's established strictness in form specs. Yes , no repeating quatrain necessary but is allowable. As some artistic leeway must be given within the structure of the form. Thanks.

PoetrySoup's stated definition for "tail rhyme" appears to specify this rhyme scheme: AAB AAB. Yet it then suggests a different pattern: AAB CCB. So, things are unclear.

Encyclopedia Britannica says that tail rhyme is rhyming couplets or triplets followed by a line of different length, usually shorter, that does not rhyme with the couplet or triplet. Or, if a "tail rhyme stanza," then two sets, i.e. AABCCB, for example.

If tail rhyme only means rhyming at the end of the lines, no problem, and that's the way your example is, and what we really have there are quatrains, with the commonly-found alternating rhymes. This is how literarydevices.net defines "tail rhyme."
