Notes About The Poem

Don'T Censor Me

Don’t censor me and let me write at will
The longings of my heart these pages fill
You fathom not what lies there in my heart
So don’t contrive a way to ban my art

Unfettered let my fingers pound these keys
My passion and my strength these rhymes appease
I live to conquer fears that vex my mind
And solace sweet in written words I find

Those fantasies that lie within my breast
All naked now, they lie in words undressed
I ride the freedom born of words revealed
And cannot bear to keep these thoughts concealed

So don’t begrudge impassioned poetry
It is my life, my joy, my ecstasy

I do not believe in any form of censorship. We all talk about freedom in Western society and then try to box it in with stupid rules. Unfortunately in todays world there are a lot of fearful people who oppose freedom of expression wholly on the grounds of their irrational fears. Possibly if more people were to read the beautiful words you write their fears would melt away in a sea of sensuality. Never let anyone sensor you! Your poetry transcends their petty fears. love Shane xxx

Poetry is the ultimate expression of freedom. To write poetry one must embrace truth and set it to paper or in this case to keyboard! A most excellent sonnet my friend. Adding this to my fav list and thanks.. A7..

I'm so honored that you liked my sonnet on censoring, Robert. I don't know if I am sometimes too transparent or not, but often...we have to do what we feel is right and let others judge as they will. Thanks for the visit and words of encouragement.

Thanks for reading the comments, Richard. You are a person who really cares about the person and not just about the words. I so treasure that in you. :) Hugs, my dear.

It's morning here, and evening there...what greeting do I give you, Justin? Goodmorning...I'll write, because this post has made my day start right! ;) Read it at 1:00am...morning, indeed. :) Thank you for visiting me. Justin...the heart can't always be given free reign...if it were...so much in life would be different and even sometimes the course of history would be altered. In writing...there are no limits to where the heart can go....in that, there is ecstasy. Thanks for understanding me. Hugs

Nobody can force you to imprison your thoughts and feeling, Eileen. Let them fly free...express yourself the way you know...let the passion flow. Some people draw cartoons, others write poetry! Eileen offers poetry ... with love and deep passion! Let the holier than thou throw the first stone! hugs // paul

Paul....I'm trying to collect my thoughts....to find words to thank you. It's hard. It's hard sometimes. It's hard when I'm made to feel ashamed....I'm crying. Thank you.

Oh Richard, I do and then I go obsess about what people will think and say, and how I will be perceived. I do. I can't be free in real life in many ways. There are certain standards I need to adhere to and if my poetry were taken away from me...I'd....die! Thanks for understanding me. Thanks for believing in me and not thinking ill of me. Hugs

This policial correct-ness crap is nothing but a form of censorship created by a minority of self righteous people who use peer pressure to bully those who would say what's on their minds----You Go Girl---now I said it----any other thoughts ?

OH OH OH!!!! Thanks YOU!!! I'm glad that you feel this way. Yes, being politically correct is tough sometimes. This was a rant about the sensual writes that I sometimes feel vulnerable about posting. Then I say...this is who I am. I'm not going to be ashamed. THEN...I go and write poems like this to make sure I've made my point. I'm hopeless....

So great being yourself, our art will fall immediately we begin to be another one; yet I have an advice for you: see your art as the best art in the World, write not with the thought of possible negative feeling from somewhere around. In doing this you will go extra miles with your gift believing that everybody out there is waiting for your words and I bet you that is when your best will come and those that want to censor you will gag their mouths and queue behind your brilliant deed....huggs

OH WOW! If only I could sincerely take your advice to heart, I'd be a very happy woman! Thank you, my dear. I'm struggling with this, but I think I'm getting better. Always though, in the back of my mind...there is that thought....one day you'll delete all your sensual writes...I don't know. For now I love just being free, but I keep my private world and public world very separate. Here is where I can be me. Thanks for understanding. Hugs
