The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - Canada

We all know you now
You have fallen at our feet
You have guarded them all with life and limb
Noble and brave
Only to fall at a cowards last call
You have stirred the souls of the unknown heroes
Their appall shall seek the just dues of our defamers and saboteurs
Young lads who now welcome you in the hereafter
Shall haunt our enemies from near or afar
The drum rolls sound, as the rifles salute
The Unknown Soldier
You are unknown no more

Notes: In memory of Nathan Cirillo and Patrice Vincent both killed in cold blood on the week of Oct 26, 2014 by cowards in the name of Islam. Nathin Cirillo was standing guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Also in memory to the 1000’s of unknown soldiers, young men, who fought so that we may be free.

I read many of your poems but this is one of my favourites for sure! It reminds me of the series of war poetry I am currently working on! This is a beautiful response to such a tragic event! Beautifully written!

I didn't hear about this - such sad news. I'll never understand the motives of Islam - their religious utterly baffles me. A very moving piece, Arthur.

This touches me more than I can say. This sadness flows accross our nation from sea to shining sea. You have articulated the heart of our nation.

Great write. I wrote one as well but have not presented that write here. Primarily writing only for myself in my journal. That journal and over 200 other poems never seen by anybody are for my kids after I pass on. Super 7 on this one my friend.. Says so much and truth is in the telling. Adding to my fav list too.

Well, I will add a small comment here. The Golden age of Islam, was quite different than today. In fact during these times, it was the Christians that were fighting and beheading people including their own. In fact its ironic how today we are seeing an exact repeat of the crusades 1000 years earlier. I refer those who havent to read the poem "Tears of Jerusalem" and the notes there after.

They will continue until they are forcibly stopped my friend. They only recognize brute over powering force. Islam's 1400+ year history reveals that fact quite clearly.

Arthur, The evil Hitler even had reverence for this type of tomb when he ordered his soldiers march around the arc de triumphe rather than through. These petty killers were wrong to call on any faith for their vile sadness. God is Love.

shame to all those who proclaim goodness in the face and name of religion or their faith but otherwise doing such actions that shatters peace and disrupts life itself.... and to those who still stood with so much valor there despite such.. May God bless them more.. how many lives more shall be wasted and be sacrificed just for selfish reasons... :( it seems the more the "world knows" the more "some people" becomes worse than ever before..
