Epic Sadness When a Beautiful Dream Crashes

Epic Sadness When A Beautiful Dream Crashes I am yet alive racing into red fires this body feels no pain trekking across tall mountains jumping into verdant valleys so far below seeing soft soothing rivers spread into planted fields beaver enjoying Nature's fast flowing flood I step forth into grey mists my dream state finally shows its ravenous teeth there in murky shadows a beastly thing growly and fangs showing it steps out red eyes glaring right at Me shivers splash from my spine and I knew this monster I would have to fight arrives... As it it charged I step back and my kick scored backward the beast fell its hideous head cut open I saw green blood gushing out as it died a cloud whisked it away Then she appeared a sexy kiss she gave I fell at her feet my goddess had came back her eyes flashed a true and deep love an echo blared O' hell no not again that damn clock alarm woke me up and my crashing anger raged for reality had just raised its ugly head and sadly worked called. Robert J. Lindley, free verse 9-16-2023 Note; In my youth I had this dream several times. And each time the alarm clock woke me up. I finally threw the clock against the wall and broke it. A most fitting end to a very dastardly foe.rjl

A wonderful free verse from your golden pen dear Robert. I too, love the formatting of this poem. It’s great, so easy to read yet dramatic. Wonderful imagery,’ tall mountains jumping into verdant valleys’’red eyes glaring’. I love the ending. Beautifully written as always my talented poetic friend. This style suits you very well :)

Thank you, my good friend. I wrote this based upon a dream I had the night before. I could have spiced it up much more but I'd rather gift it as it is. Just a dream tale given to an old man who just happens to be a writer.. . God bless you.

Thank you, my very talented good friend. I have 52 years of writing behind me and I did manage to learn a few good things in my long study of the world famous poets. Byron, Shelley, Keats, Browning, Kipling, Poe, Dickinsen, Frost, and about a hundred more golden poets. From age 17 until now study famous poets, not to copy them but to see what they were and how they communicated with the world. God bless you my good friend.

Dreams are the result of our subconscious. We must always be careful not to let them take the upper hand. Still you can say: Look who's talking?

I offer my heartfelt sympathy, Robert, for the tragic loss of your wife. It feels like only yesterday, although it may have been a mere blink in time, that haunting nightmares have plagued your restless sleep.

My friend, to me you have lived a great life despite any bad things in your life. And you have your beloved family. God has blessed you. As he has me.

a dream to rival my own bizarre ones! from nightmare to the manifestation of a sexy goddess..the intrusion of the alarm clock is sometimes welcome, sometimes not, depending on the dream..thanks for your comment on my work today :)

i'm sorry, i didn't know that..at least you found true love and happiness after two bad experiences; 17 years is pretty impressive, well to me anyway, as my own marriage only lasted for 7!

Thank you, my friend. Yes, always a bummer when the dream gets interrupted like that. But it real life it seemed to get interrupted much later on... My first two wives were both drop dead gorgeous and both shafted me later on. Iwas wiser the third time, I got my goddess and in our 17 years of marriage we had only one argument. She passed away Feb, 13th 2022. A most tragic loss, she can not be replaced..God bless you.
