Listing A Personal View Of What Poetry Is

1. Poetry is a stone, turned to expose to searching winds of a once hidden earth.
Robert J. Lindley

Robert J. Lindley

3. Poetry is a fruit, hanging on a bountiful tree, begging to fall.
Robert J. Lindley

4. Poetry is an ever expanding ocean, begging ever more creatures to swim in its swirling depths.
Robert J. Lindley

5. Poetry is cake on a golden platter, eaten with fork, spoon, butter knife or greedy hands.
Robert J. Lindley

6. Poetry is cherry blossoms, crying for the soft, cool winds to wave their beauty to the awaiting sun and the gasping skies.
Robert J. Lindley

7. Poetry is glistening dewdrops falling upon virgin ground to gift dawn's hope and night's desire to match brilliance of glistening moonbeams.
Robert J. Lindley

8. Poetry is a poet's heart and soul uniting to bless others, while temporarily shielding searching souls against this dark world's poison tipped arrows.
Robert J. Lindley

9. Poetry is brightly sent musical notes that heart sees, mind colors and spirit longs to record.
Robert J. Lindley

Robert J. Lindley

My biography will be very limited for now.   Here , I can express myself in poetic form but in real life I much rather prefer to be far less forward  I am a 60 year old American citizen , born and raised in the glorious South! A heritage that I am very proud of and thank God for as it is a blessing indeed ~

Currently married to my beautiful young wife(Riza) a lovely filipina  lady and we have a fantastic 7 year old son, Justin ~

I have truly lived a very wild life as a younger man but now find myself finally very happily settled down for the duration of my life~

I decided to rest here and express myself with hopes that it may in some way help others, for I see here a very diverse  and fine gathering of poets, artists, and caring folks~

Quickly finding friends here that amaze me with such great talent~~

I invite any and all to comment on my writes and send me soup mail to discuss

whatever seems important to them ~

Below is a gap of three months, three months of poems I deleted...

Blog Posted:8/2/2019 8:25:00 AM

Below is shown a time that a poetic depression consumed me and in a rage I deleted three months worth of poems that I had posted here. That is about a hundred poems gone forever

since during that time, as even now most are no longer written on paper. They are composed

at the keyboard and were not saved after posting here.

Now I post here first, save the poems and post at another site too. Lesson learned as I deeply regret that rage and have vowed never again..

Going to take a break my friends.. No rhyme or reason  other than this soul is depressed, this heart sad and life giveth so much less than is desired. I hope to be back when sun shines brighter, hope dances sweeter and life resumes irs normal course..

My friends, a man must rest when he finds rest is needed, when hope wanes and heart weeps..

Robert

My dear friend, it saddens me greatly to know of your distress. I’m so sorry that you’re in pain, Robert, just know how much your inspiring friendship means to me and the many poets and friends with whom you’ve graciously shared your artistic heart, soul and poetry. You are a brilliant presence here and your light is sorely missed. I pray the sun to soon shine brighter and hope to soon dance sweeter for you, Robert, and I pray may your heart not weep, my wonderful friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Sue

Sorry you're going through this, Robert. I have been there too. I have deleted many poems. Years of poems. Don't dwell on those that you've deleted, Robert, just try to feel better and keep writing. It can be healing, to write. Big hugs.

Robert, I just read all of the comments here now as well. I see folks here got to know the person I met as well, and felt the person inside as I have. Your ability to always be so true and honest, and ability to connect with others, always amazes me. I'm glad we're friends and consider myself blessed to have met you. Tough times suck, my friend, but they always pass. But remember those words I told you, and the ASAP is always here for you if ever needed. -Jim

Robert, you know what I told you elsewhere, anytime my friend, phone is here for you at ALL times. And you know where else to find me. :) I wish you a speedy recovery from all of this. I think your writing is special, whether written through the best of times or through the worst of our times. It's then that things come from the deepest within us, or so I believe. -Jim

such sad news Robert, soup has a function where you can back up your poems - I think they need to make it MORE visible and put it in the menu bar at the top of the page! Our muses all need a break from time to time and I hope to see you back on soup soon Robert:-) hugs Jan xx

Robert, I did the same thing once when I was in a deep depression after the death of my mom, but I did not just do three months I did years of poetry, and not just on poetry soup but every single hard copy I had even some from childhood, those can never be recovered or re-written, they are just gone... and I forgave myself and you must too.. I understand... I just began new and to be honest my poetry is better now than it was then. . . sometimes we need to step back and take a break, DON'T DELETE ANYTHING !!

I am so sorry you got so depressed and did that. OH MY. that would send me into a tailspin of misery too, Robert. I am so sorry you lost all those poems, and I know they had to be some very good poems that you lost. Take the time you need, Robert. I wish only the best for you. We are always here for you when you return.

Robert, you made me feel so welcome from my very first day on poetry soup with my feelings of loss and grief all poured in to a poem. Your comments were thoughtful and supportive. I look forward to reading your future works. God Bless.

I hear you, Brother, deeply ... I almost departed last week, as I am very discouraged by a number of things, but my poems will not feel the edge of that knife ... I will write on, whether 'tis appreciated or not ... for a writer writes - always. My pen is now my conscience, good or bad, dark or light, love or indifference, dreams or lucidity, comments or naught, life or oblivion (or hereafter), friend or foe, euphoria or dysphoria, acuity or mindlessness. I now, birthed from the words and wailing, will keep you in my spirit. Blessings, Robert ... not too long, ok? ;-) Much love & Respect - The Bard
