ABOUT ME : Late babyboomer Canadian born in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, and raised in Northern Ontario. Fell in love with Ottawa where I received my B.A. with a major in french literature. Still living in Ottawa, I'm finding out that oncoming golden years offer a very rich perspective on life and beauty.

The themes of my poetry are found in everyday life. I write mostly free verse but I'm also a member of Haiku Canada and have had haiku published in various anthologies.

By the way, my name is pronounced Lynn, and my avatar is an ink painting I created on rice paper years ago. The symbol means PLAY - something I have finally learned to do in later years and poetry is definitely my favorite form of play.

Dear PS friends,

I cannot tell you what your presence, interaction and support mean to me.

This weekend my husband Dennis and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. We had a four-day shindig planned since Valentine's Day 2016. People came from across the country though it was much less elaborate than our wedding. Dennis did what he had to in order to be his usual fun self though he had been in bed with backpain most of the last two months. We all had a great time and, needless to say, the backpain returned with a vengeance once the weekend was over.

We had a 10pm emergency catscan (in another city) 24 hours after the party ended, only to be told to go straight to emergency. We came back to our home town Ottawa where the wait time was thankfully more reasonable. Dennis' daughter, son and I stayed overnight in the emergency room and in the morning we received the news that Dennis has bone cancer. And this, only months after successfully completing his radiation for prostate cancer.

Needless to say we are all in shock. I really do consider you all kindred spirits and this community means so much to me. Sharing with you, I feel your virtual hug and support. And I thank you for it graciously.

(1) Oh, Line, I am SO sorry! You and your Dear Dennis will be in my daily prayers, and I am sending positive energy your way. I, too, have been blessed here with friendship and kindness, so I know whereof you speak ... it has meant a lot to me, (you are one of those). My dad has gone downhill the last few days as well, so I can relate there, also. His dementia is much worse, and I'm not sure how much longer he can stay at home, as he has to be watched 24 hours/day, and I'm running ragged, even with help. (continued)
