Coffee

COFFEE

Coffee is my medication,
Savoury warm embrace.
Supplies me with motivation
To get me through rough days.
Should I stumble, should I fall,
I’ll get a kick at ten.
Java is my drug of choice,
The closest thing to zen.

Coffee is my meditation
When I have the time
I slip into the lotus position
Then I calm my mind.
Slowly as I sip on it,
As I’m sipping breath,
The closer to the source I am
The further from my death.

NOTES:
This was my first poem to receive POTD and I was thrilled when I found out. It gave me the confidence to pursue markets for my work and as a result, this poem Coffee (or rather a portion of it) is being used on the website by a vintage copper coffee machine manufacturer from Belarus. I am very proud of this.

You should be proud of it Phil. It is delightful. I am so happy you shared it in this contest. Congratulations on POTD belated, and for your deserved win in this contest. Easter and my 7 year old granddaughters kept me from commenting sooner. xxoo

Hello Phil (again) on this wondrous Java write!! Many Congrats on POTD for this metaphoric rhyme. My former comments (FAV and all) stand here again as before!! As we all keep drinking the "Java Drug" let's us celebrate another day away from the "icy clutches" of ye ol' Grim Reaper. Merry Christmas, Gary

Hello Phil, I say a resounding "Here" . . . "Here" . . . to your rhyme on "Coffee"!! I, too, cannot function without my daily mega-dosage of Java. Coffee just may be the magic elixir for us to hold the Grim Reaper's icy fingers at bay for a while -- at least until we can have one final and last BIG CUP!! I like this one for sure!! A FAV!! Cheers and Best, Gary
