The Books Forgotten Face

The book's forgotten face
It was the year 2017
Almost 30 year ago now
I remember it like it was yesterday
I was only about 6 or 7
School days was the worst

Mum would drop me off and pick me up
I didn't look forward to her
at the end of the day
You see., even though she was there
Stood with other mothers
Who, some of them weren't there either
She wasn't there, only in a figure
Her mind and her smile was else where

Her eyes and her smile was at her hand
Looking at this little square thing
I remember bursting out of the door
With a picture I'd done for her
And she wasn't looking at me
She was looking at her hand

I said mummy mummy look
I done a picture of a flower
And your in the middle of it
Look mummy.. as i tugged at her coat
I was so excited
But i got nothing
She just kept looking at this thing

As days and months went by
I stopped talking to mummy
Because it got me nowhere
I realised by now she liked this thing
Called facebook
Where she read about other people
Saw their pictures and stuff and liked them

One day i drew mummy a picture
I wasn't sure if she would look at it
But i bet she wished now that she did
She would have prevented her own death
It was a picture of mummy
With a knife in her head

with the words... Goodnight facebook

A bit dark but what a powerful message. Great poem. Love it.
