Night Longings

it seems to me
i'd fall to sleep so easily
if cradled in your arms

while lifts the night about my head
peace eludes my mind and
sleep refuses to befall me

and yet i close my eyes
and sway a melody
that rocks me side to side

so i think of you and conjure
your warm embrace when i hear
sleep arrive on gentle tiptoe
