My biography will be very limited for now.   Here , I can express myself in poetic form but in real life I much rather prefer to be far less forward  I am a 60 year old American citizen , born and raised in the glorious South! A heritage that I am very proud of and thank God for as it is a blessing indeed ~

Currently married to my beautiful young wife(Riza) a lovely filipina  lady and we have a fantastic 7 year old son, Justin ~

I have truly lived a very wild life as a younger man but now find myself finally very happily settled down for the duration of my life~

I decided to rest here and express myself with hopes that it may in some way help others, for I see here a very diverse  and fine gathering of poets, artists, and caring folks~

Quickly finding friends here that amaze me with such great talent~~

I invite any and all to comment on my writes and send me soup mail to discuss

whatever seems important to them ~

This request was sent to the owner of another forum where some of my poetry
is also presented, usually after it has been presented here first.
I have given my permission because I view it as a most worthy cause(education) and am honored they considered this poem..
If anybody,  can give me more information on this organization, either here in comment or by way of a soupmail, I'd appreciate it very much.
Thanks...

Subject: Copyright permission request from OCR #3 - 20180088

Message Body:
On 14th February 2018 and 13th March 2018 I wrote to you to request permission to reproduce copyright material. As yet, I have not received any response from you, so am writing again to remind you of the request. I am writing on behalf of Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR), to inform you that an item for which we believe you to be the copyright holder has been selected to appear in one of our forthcoming exam papers. We would therefore like to request your permission to use the material, in an electronic format via our website after the exam has been sat. The exam paper will be made publicly available online for five years, from August 2020.

When considering granting permission, it may help you to know that OCR is an exempt charity and, as such, a not for profit organisation; it is a subsidiary of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. Please email us at ocr.copyright@ocr.org.uk and we can send you a copy of the exam material we would like to use.

Kind Regards
Stina Cuthbert

Dear Robert, I feel you are so deserving of the honor. I think you are a very talented poet who writes with style and class and I can see why they would want to to use your poetry to teach. This is wonderful news and I am so happy for you Robert! Hugs, Connie

Thank you my friend. A truly wonderful gift to me this is. That I may in some small way help in teaching others, poetry which is an art form that is currently under attack by those that despise it and even by those that drastically want to change it into being a lesser art,one weakened so as to appeal to a larger audience.

A good and kind friend sent me this information this morn. It is about what OCR does....***** Note- "We provide GCSEs and A Levels in over 40 subjects and offer over 450 vocational qualifications. Our mission "OCR is a not-for-profit organization so success, for us, is measured through the impact and reach of our activities and the scale of our contribution to helping learners realize their aspirations. Thank you my dear friend. Always a pleasure to hear from you and read your poetry. My greatest joy in this , is the reason they requested permission . And that is to use the poem to test and teach young children and young adults. My goal in my poetry has been for it to benefit others and give hope to others when darkest times befall them,as so oft happened to me in my life. This use fits that bill and was the main reason that I gave my permission.
Date: 4/10/2018 11:02:00 AM
Robert I would hazard a guess your poem may have been selected for the exam etcv because 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War,and there are many commemorations etc thereof in England (and in Europe)this year.I lost my maternal grandfather(who my Mum never saw) and a paternal great uncle both in 1918 ,so poetry etc thereon still has great relevance hereabouts.

So you and your family have experienced directly the futility and tragedy of that war. A war in which so many brave young lives were so stupidly sacrificed due to sending massed bodies of troops into charging directly into machine gun volleys. While we may criticize certain military actions by higher military officials, we also must acknowledge the honor , bravery, true grit and heroism of the Brit soldiers that did their duty and suffered so greatly for having done so. I HOPE MY POEM ADDED TO THAT ADMIRATION OF WHAT GREAT TREASURE WAS SACRIFICED BACK THEN-- LIVES OF THOSE LOST AND OTHERS INJURED GRIEVOUSLY.
Date: 4/10/2018 10:31:00 AM
An honour indeed Robert,I remember folk studying for RSA exams in a wide range of subjects at night school back in 50's,so it has a long pedigree.I would guess there will a greater audience for your poem than many a published poetry book.

Thank you my friend. A triple gift for me, as I have always placed extremely high the fact that England is our mother country, and closest ally. As well as my admiration for the steadfastness, bravery, honor and loyalty of the Brit soldier. Such as is so magnificently evident in the golden verses of Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae world famous poem, In Flanders Field. To me Britain has a most wondrous and magnificent history and it too has given so very much to the world.

Thank you my friend. I see it as a blessing and a great honor my friend. Especially since there are a great many better than I poets, contributing their fine poems here. One of my good fortunes is to have joined this site, found those poets , read and learned from them! No poetry site is perfect but this one is far better than the rest, IMHO.

Thank you my friend. Yes, it seems as if Christmas came early for me this year. I could hardly believe it at first. Thenfinding it was true I thought of my goal in writing poetry, to pass on a bit of my life history in measure and try to help others understand this dark world and its too oft unmerciful sorrows inflicted upon mankind. That this gift, can in some way, help teach about poetry is indeed a true honor.

Thank you my friend. I have not yet mentioned this to my family. I suppose I should perhaps. But its been enough just know my poetry has and will help others. To me, th greatest measure is what one can give bck, especially if it is to helpchildren in the process of learning about life . And poetry certainly doe that if it is taught-history of poetry should be taught in schools start as early as age ten , IMHO. That way , young budding talent can emerge and be fired up to gift the world.

Thank you my friend. I was truly floored by this honor being given.. A blessing since this fits perfectly my main goal in writing my poetry, that of it delivering a message and helping others. To be chosen to teach students fits that bill perfectly and increases the measure of the honor and its gift. I hope this poem serves a purpose that gets students to think about war, death, finality of life and the weakness, savagery, brutality and too oft insanity inherent in mankind. Also learn that history is to be studied and learned from. The original poem, written by a brave man that saw war's worst- inspired me to write my poem when still a young man -decades ago. I still think his fantastic poem, one of the greatest poems ever written(be it about war or otherwise)!

After four days , I decided it a true and worthy cause--one for the students-so I gladly gave my permission. I am always for the teaching of poetry at school.

Thank you my friend. I am blessed to have found and joined this , the very best internet poetry site. I was hesitant to start bringing in and post my old poetry(what had survived) from many decades ago. Very glad that I started posting much of it unedited and in original form, write in my 20's..While still a young man.
Date: 4/8/2018 6:50:00 PM
Congrats, Robert. That's an honor. Now let's only hope the teachers don't use your poem to ruin the students' enjoyment of poetry. (My favorite German poet always refused permission to have her work included in textbooks)

Thank you my friend. I hope my poem is used as a very positive addition to the teaching of the students. As well as its message being deeply discussed and acknowledge as a sad, historic tragedy. One about the futility of war and its massive carnage!

Thank you my friend. Yes, it is an honor and also a blessing since the poem will be used in teaching and testing students. I know that at the very least one of my poems serves a higher purpose and benefits others, as is my goal when writing poetry. Every poem I write has a message that is delivered, hopefully one that can be discerned by the reader.
Date: 4/8/2018 11:23:00 AM
Robert, here is my original comment on that poem - how amazing its actually come true!!!! "Robert I went straight to re-read John McCrae's poem after yours (it is a poem the children still study at school) It would be wonderful if your poem could be studied too, you are an amazing poet and this is REAL poetry. Bravo for not editing this incredibly moving poem, it needs no changes, just reading:-) hugs jan xx"

Bravo, that's awesome news Robert, How marvelous that your poem is to be used for students to study when they sit an exam -having worked in a school its a dream of mine to be included in one of their anthologies! I now work as an exam invigilator so one day I will be able to read your poem and the question they set but it will be on the day after the exam is over! bravo. I had part of one of my poems 'Owl See You' printed in a book by Cambridge University Press in a book to be used by students in Dubai - its amazing these things happen as a result of posting on PS!:-) hugs jan xx

Truly, I was in shock at first. A worthy cause since the poem is to be used to teach students about Poetry. I am all for poetry being taught in schools as an art form. With that in mind I gave my permission.
