"Glass is Empty" is my avatar. It reflects a play on words with my initials, as "Empty" becomes "MT" for my name. The glass represents my transparently fragile creative process. The glass begins to fill as I struggle through the process of writing, becoming full when I (finally!) complete a short story or poem. After publishing the work, the glass becomes empty again, awaiting new inspiration. Empty or full, the glass is always "MT" :) TMI? Oh My!

Mile 5 of the 2022 Poetry Marathon Contest is history.

Here are the standings as of Mile 5, which is just a snapshot in time since the 2022 Poetry Marathon is less than 20% completed. Updates are given after the completion of Miles 5, 10, 15, and 20.

In the 2019 Poetry Marathon, there was one poet who didn't place until Mile 16. That poet had only 5 placements in the entire 2019 Poetry Marathon. But that poet placed in the top 15 at the finish line! So put on your running shoes and join in the fun!

The 2022 Poetry Marathon Mile 6 Contest just started today! Remember, this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Be sure to pace yourselves, and have fun along the way.

I agree with Valsa. It's so nice how you carefully keep tabs on everything. I need to go again and study the types of poems that are most popular with you. I think every sponsor gravitates to certain themes and poetry forms. Susan will be a very difficult one to beat. Her style is impeccable! Many others on the list are so awesome. I could never choose among their top-notched poetry submissions. Congrats to all in the top 17!
