This poem is made up of two poems that are intertwined,
and the name of the form is "Contrapuntal"
The lines on the left are one poem.
The indented lines are the second poem.

Rhymes of Love

A tender smile, a fleeting glance
Eyes that meet to touch the soul
Missed beats of hearts and minds, in trance
A deepened sense of something whole
To feel that urge, beyond control
To share all things of mind and heart
Bring warmth and comfort to the soul
And of the whole, become a part
Within each aura’s brilliant glow
A touch of closeness, heartfelt rays
Spring surge of passions that bestow
     Warm radiance of inner blaze
Strong flowing currents charged with fire
Bathe in the light of endless glow
That fan, and feed true love’s desire
A current sparked with- constant flow
Surrender fear, lay each soul bare
Two beating hearts, as one, to care
And bond as one love to declare
Two open souls, in silence, share

Congrats on your win, Sandra. I love this form, each poem could stand on its own but together they create something beautiful, perhaps like two people in love. John

Sandra, thank you for introducing me to the Contrapuntal form. Each and every line feels natural and uncontrived, and each line beautifully dovetails with the next. It even reads well backwards! I have to Fav it :) Congratulations on your win on Mile 20 of my 2019 Poetry Marathon Contest! Thank you so much for supporting my contests. By continuing to place in the contests you are accumulating points toward the final. ~Mark

Thank you again, Mark, for finding my poem worthy to be on your winner's list. I am pleased that you enjoyed the new form...and it was a surprise to me that it also reads backward! My Muse plays little tricks on me sometimes! Thanks for your nice words of support and for the Fav! Sandra

Hi Sandra, That was clever of you to combine/intermingle two different poems. It was though I was reading one poem. I found this piece to be very romantic. Congratulations on your 1st place win. It was well deserved:-) Alexis

I noticed in her example for us, she did not rhyme the longer lines. But I think it's a cool way to do it.

Yes, Andrea...a little confusing. The contest called for "a rhyme within a rhyme" so that is what I composed. We will see....
