I am the weed
Nestled
In a crack in the pavement
Dismantling concrete
Crumbling foundations
In this man made world
Rooted in the earth
Despite the city
I am the seed

Don't underestimate the 'weed' There is a mystery in a seed. I love your reference to the seed. Only a seed is so powerful that it eventually moves the earth. Such a great metaphor. One I would read to a fifth-grade class and even a college class for a very interesting discussion. I hope you don't mind my comment. Loved it. This poem is perfect; worded and in a way the way it looks on the page. The weed in the beginning comes from the seed at the end; as if this poem grew from the ground up. Plus the single word line "Nestled" suggests the weed in some ways is hiding. But the best is that you wrote "man made world"; that's why Nature is a Woman; a Mother. Blessed be. Login to Reply
